Pathways in Mount Druitt Are Not Numbered And In Rooty Hill They Are!

Rooty Hill Path Way Number 3718

It appears Blacktown City Council Officers have  not place Pat Way Number in West and great North of  Mount Druitt. Yet, in Rooty Hill they can do it!

Why is this important? Simply for many reasons - explanation of these lane ways/pathways to other memebers of the community, to meet and enter a premises or use it as  meeting point and to explain to electricity Companies, where public lighting needs to address and maintained. Also to advise Council of any maintenance that is required as well. So it is important. I request Council to place Pathway numbers to all Lanes and paths in Mount Druitt that do not have it and maybe add it to Google maps, notify the local community what has been done and why? This will be a great community assistance.

This is a
Pathway in Whalan - no Pathway numbers
at any of the Pathway multiple entrances!

Mount Druitt Buildings That Need Uplifting/The Modern Look!

We need to understand that  the appearance of Mount Druitt must be uplifted and changed to bring a brighter and most appealing image to the are. This will then promote more people from outside the area to visit the area, spend money, spend more time with family and friends.

So it is with  much importance we highlight buildings that show the blackness of dirt dripping done walls- from rains and  presenting a dirty image for the area. Vibrant rich colours are required to give the area, something that others would be so proud  to live in and recommend to others.

Maybe a simple uplift in colors will brighten up people's lives. We will see what can happen, see whether the uplift happens or  if it remains. I also think that if the dirt marks continue, it could also be  a community Health & Safety issue. especially if all the walls turn completely black!

Here's one example how simple coloring could brighten up the area, the more you brighten up the area, the more people are happy and the more  business and tourism can increase.

The other factor that needs to be looked at is the Blacktown Local Environmental Plan, needs to  take into consideration that while you are accommodating for rapid growth in the area, local  building and amenities must keep up with the modern times with looks. If we don't do something now, it doesn't reflect  a good image for the area!

What do you think? We want to hear from you!

2nd Sydney Airport in Badgerys Creek - Greenlight!

Now, the Australian Prime Minister has announced the  much needed extended or 2nd Sydney International Airport, of recent times. The  'Fors' have  increased over many decades and the 'Nays' have decreased.

Take myself for example, I used to be against the 2nd Sydney airport  just because of principal ( when I was living in the Eastern  to Southern-Eastern suburbs of Sydney). Now a long living Western Sydney community member, I fully support a  the Badgerys Creek Airport announced by the Federal Government and the MSW Government in support is moving to provide  rail infrastructure to support this airport proposal. This is to be accredited to the Barry O'Farrell/ Mike Baird Government that has taken the lead to push forward  for the North-West and South-West Rail links and even a proposal for these 2 links to join together. They are major economical boosts to our Western Sydney economy and in the long run, will be beneficial to  commuters living in Western Sydney that needs to reach the Sydney Second International Airport.

In relation to  living standards in Mount Druitt, Blacktown City Council will need to ensure there is modern  community infrastructure. Also concerted effort is needed in  focusing with ensuring future plans to accommodate the spiraling population increase with proper approved housing estates supporting the Blacktown Local Environmental Plan. If this is done then the Council will meet its justified means. If there is no focus on this  the community with be disorientated and disillusioned.

Property prices will be in demand and hike up by local Real Estate Marks around the area as they grab the opportunity to make a better profit for themselves. People will want to live in Mount Druitt as the Flight path  planned is heading North from Badgerys Creek in between St Marys and Penrith.

Check out details of where the Second Sydney Airport will be

Shocking Roads At Westfield Mount Druitt For Parking!

The above photos speak for itself, Westfield Mount allows potholes and cracks to appear South  and South East of Mount  Westfield Mount Druitt.  They will say their Work Health and Safety Committee is into this ( if they have one), yet for the 4 months I have been walking in this area, it seems like total neglect on their side. I have heard they have had  a cut of employees of Westfield Mount Druitt - this should not cut the Community Health and Safety of community members  that walk  around the area enter and leaves cars or walk to and from home. What happens is there are potential accidents or a death from a fall - it is a great risk!!!! And most importantly increases wear and tear for private vehicles!

What do you think? - we will obtain photos from other areas of Westfield Car Park for you as much need money for repair has not been made  and placed into  right areas to make Mount Druitt a better place!

Woolworths & Coles Mount Druitt, Shopping Trolleys Are Been Used And Dumped In Community Footpaths Dumping Grounds!

Why I love Mount Druitt is we have  a shop called Aldi's that charges a $2.00 hiring charge for using their trolley and you get it back, once returned to their store. This is great not only for them but the community we live in as less people will take this trolley and walk a long distance - empty out the contents and then dump the shopping trolley on the public footpaths or places where are no footpaths.

So with Woolworths and Coles Mount Druitt, these expensive shopping trolleys  have  no chrage for using them and thus people run away with these  trolleys and they do dump them on streets and the place is looking like a mess.  This is  where Blacktown Council need to dicusss with Westfield Mount Druitt, Coles and Woolworths Mount Druitt Management, ways so the community is not burdened with these trolley and for days on end left on theses streets.
If you look  in the background there are
more lying trolleys

The best solution is charge a  similar fee on their trolleys, or  have navigational devices that are placed on these trolleys and if these trolleys reach the outskirts of Westfield boundaries, it sets off an alarm until the trolley is  return into the shops and or Westfield, Woolworth or Coles officers collect their trolley back and the community is then left clean! I assume the trolley collectors run around the community ;picking up trolley but if an electrical device is placed on (as mentioned above), problem solved!

Furthermore Council could place fines to people caught taking trolleys out of  Shopping Center boundaries! Something has to be done!

Fallen Retaining Wall Fixed by Occupant!

It is good that  community members (home owners)  organise fix up of retaining as quick as possible, so that the community gets back to its natural image. Here is the  below picture showing how it has been fixed.

I must apologise  to the community and to Blacktown City Council officers, where The wrong street was provide to them on the original blog. Instead of it being  in Kaylyn Place, Mount Druitt it was at Glenroben Place, Mount Druitt.

Another problem solved!

Westfield Mount Druitt - Does Not Seem To Have First Place With Community Health & Safety!

Yet again, we come across instances where there is lack of managerial responsibility to ensure public safety of Mount Druitt community shoppers. It may go back to the history of how Westfield obtained land through another company purchasing 70 house properties cheaply and making a high mark up then (apparently) selling all to Westfield making the shopping what it is
today. I have been told ripping off  previous land owners.

Now as we walk along the  tiles on the walkway to Westfield Mount Druitt, from the bus interchange, just before we approach the entrance doorway, there is  a dangerous protruding, chipped  concrete slab of tiles. The picture itself reveals the true - it appears Westfield Mount Druitt may have great public liability insurance!

I have this slab like this for at least 3 months. I wonder how long the management has seen this slab it appears  they do not  have regular Work health and Safety checks - maybe they don't even have a committee - Work Cover maybe interested!

Mount Druitt Asian Butcher & Seafood Shop Still Breaching Waste Water Laws Even Late At Night!

This photo was taken late last night around 9pm , so quite a bit of waste water would have dried up. It seems like community members are telling us, there is a proper  neglect of adherence to Laws and as it it is a continual offence some action must be taken, to safeguard the community.

The Stench smell coming from this shop during the day and hours of operation is shocking and needs to be looked into as well. Maybe they could operate inside Westfield wear there are similar shops operatiing inside as well!

We hope that action is taken!

Mayors Response To Moresby Crescent Bus Issue - No Problems With Busways Management - Bus Drivers Can Still Drive Carefully!

We have received a letter as a response from the Mayor of Blacktown City Council, Len Robinson, in relation to Busways turning from Gasmatta Crescent into Moresby Crescent, Whalan:

Click Here on Mayors Letter of Response dated 16th April 2014

Basically, Busways are saying it is not  unsafe for drivers to make this turn, and there is no difficulty for bus drivers making this turn, although it it a two way access. Still waiting for management from Busways to get back to them and report further as well.

It appears Busways managers do not drive in that bend and that is why they are reporting about it . Drivers may not  report about of this bend for fear of their job, if they speak up.

I have no fear and am happy to speak up for the community. Let us hear your feedback. Don't you think the vacant land could be used up for  access to heavy vehicles.  There are no signs on the street preventing cars not to park at certain times!

Ticket Queues At Mount Druitt train station !

Here are commuters spending more time queuing at Mount Druitt train station, spending endless wasteful time, where they could be walking straight into the barriers down the stairs, not missing their train and a better chance for seating on trains. What do you think?

Do you know about the Opal Card? Have you got one?

Behind The Mixed Pedestrian Sign at Westfield Mount Druitt!

I have published a blog about a mixed pedestrian sign in Mount Druitt. What is more confusing is a sign behind that promotes pedestrians to walk on the road and there is no pedestrian crossing!

What do you think about this is this correct signage?

Rooty Hill Cyclists - Very Fit!

Enthusiastic bicyclists are keen enough (last Saturday) to ride early in the morning from Rooty Hill to Campbelltown and back again.  These men were back in Rooty Hill around 9.30am-10.00am after leaving around 5.30am-6.30am.

I know as a local bicyclist I am not ready for a ride that long, as I talked to a few of these men, they later advised they had to go back home as their girlfriends and wives were waiting for them and some may even have duties to do at home. They were all eager to  be involved in a photograph.

As a surrounding suburb of Mount Druitt, a great activity for these group of men for a Saturday and  instead of heading towards the pub across the road - half of them  sit along  the shops at North Rooty Hill, relax and have a drink. Maybe I can join them after a few years experience of  bicycle riding!

What do  you think?

Well, this is extremely excellent, the  Westfield  walkway in Dawson Mall is actually being cleaning and I believe they also clean up Graffiti! How do I know that? I read the back of the truck! It looks so good and so professionally done! Good on you Westfield Mount Druitt!

Lights Are On Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt!

It  took a bit of time, but all lights are on in Dawson Mall.  This is another small win for the community, so I ask any of you to refer any pictures of required improvements within the Mount Druitt area to the e-mail on the contacts of our website.

What I Love About Mount Druitt To Why I love Mount Druitt!

People are the ones that I love to talk about and definitely are the ones that make myself  a better person then I think I am. When people speak, I listen. Listen in a way I think of what ways can I work on solving their problems, with the internet tools I have known to us.

So to me what each person says to me is a mark in my life and when someone that knew pretty well was introduced to 'what I love about Mount Druitt' blogspot. The reaction was if you make it, 'Why I love Mount Druitt' blogspot, it will be meaningful and more powerful coming from an individual. So I have change the website name as it is not what I love about Mount Druitt it is why I like Mount Druitt, which I understand is a common phrase in Mount Druitt.

When  everyone reads the words, 'Why I love Mount Druitt' it is not just for me but for them! It is still going to  have the same goals and ambitions that is needed to make Mount Druitt a great place to live.

I hope you all don't mind, sometimes we change for the better!

So it has changed from: http://whatiloveaboutmountdruitt.blogspot.com.au

Broken Pit - Requested To Be Fixed By Blacktown City Council - To Telstra

Further good news on a broken pit - to be fixed!  Although these are small wins for the area, each win we get makes Mount Druitt a greater Place to live in. It is What I love about Mount Druitt. More and more people are reading our blogs, especially from within the community. I cannot wait for the community to e-mail us details for Council to attend too fix up.

This doesn't place local Councillors aside.  They can contribute by ensuring appropriate action is taken to make Mount Druitt an improved  place, where it brings such great community pride.

Here is the response from Blacktown City Council, engineer:

Hello Mr Svoboda,

Blacktown Council has provided representation on your behalf advised Telstra of the broken pit and requested this be rectified.

Regarding the failed retaining wall you mentioned, you have stated this was in Kaylyn Place, Mount Druitt. I have had one of our council inspectors investigate this matter and he has informed me he was unable to locate this retaining wall in Kaylyn Place, Mount Druitt.

Are you able to provide further information in regards to the location of this retaining wall?

Kind Regards

Engineer
Civil and Open Space
(Name Ommitted)

NB: It may well be the occupant of the fallen wall has  removed the wall and maybe replaced it. I will refer back to the Council engineer and provide the community further advice.

Westfield Mount Druitt Has Great Ceiling Art Work - Have You Seen It!

This is such a great modern creative artwork done using industrial plastic. If anyone does notice it, there is at least 2 things that come to mind: peaceful holidays or tropical bliss in Mount Druitt.

What do you think, let us know? Have you seen it before?

Credit goes to the Management of Westfield Mount Druitt. Maybe they can place more of this creative artwork, in other parts of  Westfield Mount Druitt, using different coloring!

Oh, I'm sure they are cleaning the  artwork panels, so we all can see through it!

Great Response On Multiple Issues Concerning Mount Druitt Community - Engineer, Blacktown City Council!

This is great news as that means Blacktown  City Council is  not taking issues lightly from this new website And  that is what I like about Mount Druitt. The thing is once a blog is, published it send s messages around the world. We do not want to  promote Mount Druitt around the world as a great place to live in.

To do this, we require proper infrastructure in place in our local community, to be put in place and maintained regularly, so that the community has what it needs to meet its needs.

Here is the response from the Engineer of Blacktown City Council, received on an e-mail today:

Community Members Using Streets As Dumping Grounds - What Can We Do?

Around North Mount Druitt in various streets that I walk around in, people tend to dump personal furnishing/ belongings in  various places and Blacktown City Council does an excellent job to clean these streets.

Although dumping  not required items on footpaths, creates unhygienic health and safety issues which really any community members need to do, is leave the streets as respectable and clean as you would at your own home!

What I would like to suggest to Blacktown City Council, in the corner of Earl Street and Hythe Streets Mount Druitt or similar - signs for dumping of rubbish and its fines be put into place and if caught dumping , this can not just be a way to keep the community clean, but to provide possible revenue to Council.

At this stage if  anyone see any rubbish on any streets, that need to be addressed and removed, contact us via our home page  e-mail and send a picture in, with a description of where it is. We will refer to Council to attend to it, making it an improved community.

Home Delivery Ice Cream - Yummy In Mount Druitt!

Every day we meet different people in our lives and we  wonder what they do in Mount Druitt. Tonight I met a Home Delivery Van of Ice Creams Driver. This is someone that is like  the average Australian, trying to earn his keepings.

Ray is outside his truck and travels once every fortnight around the Mount Druitt area on Tuesday/nights. If you see him and you would like to treat yourself with some ice cream - stop him and his vehicle, he will assist you and you will enjoy yourself.

This is what I like about Mount Druitt!

Further Leaks From Mount Druitt Asian Butcher And Seafood!

This photo was take around 9pm last night, so a majority of the stench waste water would have been seeping and leaking from the Mount Druitt Asian Butcher And Seafood Shop, at least 3-4 hours before. This  (as stated to myself by a community member) seems to be a daily occurrence and the owners seem to be neglecting the health and safety of the community.
It is hard to tell in this dark picture, but
it is left near middle and then left on top

We will seek further action from Council, as this can not be tolerated and businesses that run like this may not in the future run this again!

Click Here for further Leaks from Mount Druitt Asian and Butcher Shop

What I find amazing is there is a security camera from  Westfield Mount Druitt and it doesn't seem to be picking these images, apparently, so far! That would be more circumstantial evidence! Maybe Council can view these images as well!

Ellen Dale Reserve, Rooty Hill Not A fitness Park Like Ellen Dale Park!

What I find is funny is diagonally opposite, Northwest to Ellen Dale Reserve, Rooty Hill is Ellen Dale Park, Mount Druitt. In relation to naming places, maybe give them 2 different names - just my thought!
Ellen Dale Reserve, Rooty Hill
Anyway back to the real issue, if we are to provide Park and Reserves to the community, I now believe that fitness tracks like the R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt should and Plumpton Park Wetlands walking track be mirrored, replicated in all Parks and Reserves within Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs (no matter how small or large they are).

By doing this, allows the community to make choices and become healthier, which is a benefit to community within itself.

We will see if Council can commit to provide more accessible parks with outside fitness centers, that provide a better and healthier lifestyle.

Spotted Collapsed Wall Mount Druitt

We have had torrential rain and  mini natural disasters have occurred like flooding and  torn shade sails in Westfield Mount Druitt

in many areas in Mount Druitt and in Kaylyn Place, fallen wall on Blacktown Council land and also a broken concrete outlet lid.

We will refer to Blacktown City Council, to see what they do to improve the  area.

Gates Required For Blocks of Town Houses/Duplex Properties!

I have received some requests from local community members of security suggestion regarding living in blocks of town houses/duplexes in Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs.

With private individual dwelling in Mount Druitt an overwhelming majority of properties have gates and fences, providing security and privacy to these residents.

The question being asked is why doesn't Council approve gates for security in  Town Housing blocks/ Duplexes within Mount Druitt providing a safer community? Yes there are  sides to this question and debate and I think this should referred  as a proposal to the Blacktown Local Environmental Plan 2013.

What do you think?

Final Stage Of Earl Street, Mount Druitt!

Well after I suggested there was that final bit that had to be completed by Blacktown Council, it has been done. The Cycling paths have been marked (in white). Thank Blacktown City Council, we will be looking forward for other footpath upgrades as well, as needed.

Dawson Mall Lighting On The Way To Be Fixed- Waiting For Hiring Equipment & Weather!

We have a response from the Blacktown City Council, Building and Construction Officer:

The lights out in Dawson Mall were identified in a recent weekly inspection and will be rectified when Council has the necessary tower truck on hire. This is scheduled for next week depending upon weather and tower truck availability.

Thank you for your interest in notifying us.

Should you require any further information, please contact Building Construction and Maintenance clerical staff on 9839 6276 or 9839 6130.

Building Construction and Maintenance Officer ( name omitted )

My concern is in a recent weekly inspection, I noticed this on Monday night. If it was noticed last on an inspection on 'a recent weekly inspection', if it was last week that means two weeks to fix it. And there were 4 lights out. I'm sure 4 lights didn't go out the the same time - probability is mall possible is greater!

I think over 2-3 weeks these lights went out and it wasn't inspected - I would like to see the inspection sheets, for it to be proven to us - easier  said to fob us off!

What do you think am I right or wrong?

Let us hear from yourselves!

After Many Years Of Neglect - Mount Druitt Is Getting Improvements In The Area!

I am  getting overwhelmed with the response of  getting things done in our local community. I must be getting the word across  Local Government  Authorities. They are probably saying, 'Here is someone standing up for the community! We have to listen to him as the word is spreading about this new blogspot!'

Well that is a good feeling. Normally want Council's do is behind closed doors and  some members of the community are afraid to do something about in case there is retribution. I remember my parents saying hear no evil, see no evil and no evil will happen! I personally do not feel afraid to get things done for the community. My advocacy for public transport brought myself to be a strong outspoken person with no political ambitions.

We live in a world that if nothing is said nothing is done. If something is done all will be done! I encourage people  of the mount Druitt to e-mail any pictures that they think the community needs to be improved.

Here is a positive result from Council  from a blogspot I have published. This is a  temporary walkway with new gravel to make it easier for pedestrians to walk on. It appears the pedestrian crossing, I and asking for at the traffic lights will supplement this.

I have noted so far, there  has been no communication from Council either by way of e-mail or letter, so I assume they are acting on these  much needed improvements to make the community more improved!

Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson - Ward 5, Representations To Blacktown City Council General Manager - Luxford Road Overpass Issue!

I am proud to announce that Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson, Ward 5, Blacktown City Council has made representation on my behalf to  advocate for improvements in infrastructure, with the Luxford Road overpass reaching Gasmatta Crescent, Whalan.

I received a letter from the General Manager of Blacktown City Council as a response to a community outcry to  upgrade the area.

The response is 2 out of  3 wins for the community and 1 more to go:

1. Bus Stop and Pedestrian Crossing

The suggestion  that a pedestrian be provided near the intersection of Gasmata Crescent and Luxford Road, Whalan cannot be considered, as Australian Standards restricts pedestrian crossings along roads with 2  or more marked lanes. Furthermore, due to traffic conditions, the provision of a  pedestrian crossing at this location may in fact be dangerous.

Recent investigations have revealed that the bus stop in question is located about 70 metres from the underpass. Commuters are therefor encouraged to continue to use the  underpass to access bus services.

2. Slippery Steps

Council's Waste Urban Animal & Emergency  Services (WUAES) have commenced cleaning of the stairs which is scheduled for completion by  4th April 2014.

3. Drainage Issues

Instructions have been issued to clean the build-up of debris near and  in the drain pits. These works are scheduled for completion within two weeks.

I am so excited that we have had a wonderful response from a Councilor of Blacktown City Council as well as immediate positive effect of the new General Manager of Blacktown City Council. It takes people to make changes happen for the better.

My overdue issues are now the blocking to the immediate removal of the bus stop to the top of Gasmata Crescent and Luxford Road, Whalan ( where it was before) - removal of the underpass has not been committed too by Council, as well as leveling of footpaths to match the road ( and fill in). The  overpass was used by commuters to reach Whalan Shops via the walkway that has now been closed off, possibly by the NSW Department of Housing.

At the top of Gasmata Crescent and  Luxford Roads - a traffic light with pedestrian crossings be installed as I am pretty sure there are more than 30,00 cars passing the  intersection per day. This would not make it dangerous as it will assist commuters having the bus stop on the top of the street, providing them protection to commuters crossing the road. The Overpasses are ancient history and  are an anti-social distraction to the community! We need to have modern planning in current communities not leave current current communities behind, without planning planning measures to ensure this is adopted as an improvement community ( let's not go behind the times) and towards to the  Blacktown Local Environment Plan of 2013, before it gets signed off  by NSW Government.

Local  Governments are great to assist communities with new infrastructure, but because of unreal reasons, it is hard to modernise an old community for the council.

Great to see all the cleaning is done after long times- it seems that the action taken now is a much delayed action. We will need to see how often Council will review, audit  to clean drains, steps etc: once a week, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or one a financial year?

Leaks Again From Mount Druitt Asian Butcher And Seafood Shop, Mount Druitt - Health & Safety Issue Community!

A self-explanatory photo has been taken yesterday, where breaches are made by the Mount Druitt Asian Butcher And Seafood shop again. We will refer this to Blacktown City Council for  for action to make it a healthier and safer environment for the community.

Whalan Has Bus Access Street Issues and Bus Stop Issues - Problems Can Be Solved!

This is along the route of now Busways 674 travel from Mount Druitt on Moresby Crescent, Whalan. First of all, you will note that this is a one sided bus stop. There is a bus stop on the left hand side but there isn't on the inwards journey to Mount Druitt on the right side.

The second issue is at the end of Moresby heading  out of Mount Druitt joining onto Gasmatta Crescent Whalan, there is the patch of land the council is selling in the middle of the road. This used to be the NSW Department of housing office, which later closed down.

It is difficult for most of the bus drivers to maneuver this street, heading to Mount Druitt, especially when there are parked cars and there is limited width for a bus to drive past. The left above picture is taken from the  Gasmatta Crescent angel and the left side is where the bus driver has to try to get around.

It is suggested by Margaret-Ann Dodd from the Whalan community, that this  lad could be made to widen the road and make it more maneuverable for the bus drivers to get through. We will seek response from Blacktown City Council on these 2 issues. If it helps the community, why not?

Personally, I don't think anyone would purchase the land in the middle of the road and build a a private property residence to live on!

Morning After... Shade Cloths/Sails Being Removed & Then Gone Afternoon - Westfield Mount Druitt!

It is good that Westfield Mount Druitt has taken immediate action to remove the torn and fallen shade cloths/sails outside of Coles Car park, which were a health and safety issue to shoppers! These are  photos taken this morning and in the afternoon - all clear. The slanting poles that the shades cloths were attached too are left behind.

You will note workmen working on the issue on the top photograph!

I actually thought the idea of the shade cloths years ago was great. I am only concerned that it was done in one small area of the large car park in Westfield Mount Druitt (It might have been paid for by Coles!).
