This is great news as that means Blacktown City Council is not taking issues lightly from this new website And that is what I like about Mount Druitt. The thing is once a blog is, published it send s messages around the world. We do not want to promote Mount Druitt around the world as a great place to live in.
To do this, we require proper infrastructure in place in our local community, to be put in place and maintained regularly, so that the community has what it needs to meet its needs.
Here is the response from the Engineer of Blacktown City Council, received on an e-mail today:
Hello Mr Svoboda,
Thank you for bring your concerns regarding the foot path near Mount Druitt Westfield to our attention.
Blacktown City Council has filled the area where the soil compaction has taken place and will continue to monitor the area.
Blacktown City Council encourages all residents to utilise the pedestrian amenities provided to them for both their own safety and the safety of the drivers using Luxford Road.
It is suggested that pedestrian foot traffic utilise the provided pedestrians crossings to safety cross Luxford Road as these pedestrian crossing provide both a safe means to cross the road and have pram ramps to allow for prams/mobility scooters/etc.
In your previous correspondence you make reference “signs” that pedestrians have to walk around. It would appear you are referring to the large Westfield sign which is located within private property. As this sign is located within private property Blacktown City Council has provided representation on your behalf and informed Westfield Center Management of your concerns.
I have forwarded your request for an additional crossing to our traffic department for investigation and future funding consideration.
Kind Regards
Engineer of Civil and Open Space
