We have received a letter as a response from the Mayor of Blacktown City Council, Len Robinson, in relation to Busways turning from Gasmatta Crescent into Moresby Crescent, Whalan:

Basically, Busways are saying it is not unsafe for drivers to make this turn, and there is no difficulty for bus drivers making this turn, although it it a two way access. Still waiting for management from Busways to get back to them and report further as well.
It appears Busways managers do not drive in that bend and that is why they are reporting about it . Drivers may not report about of this bend for fear of their job, if they speak up.
I have no fear and am happy to speak up for the community. Let us hear your feedback. Don't you think the vacant land could be used up for access to heavy vehicles. There are no signs on the street preventing cars not to park at certain times!

This is along the route of now Busways 674 travel from Mount Druitt on Moresby Crescent, Whalan. First of all, you will note that this is a one sided bus stop. There is a bus stop on the left hand side but there isn't on the inwards journey to Mount Druitt on the right side.
The second issue is at the end of Moresby heading out of Mount Druitt joining onto Gasmatta Crescent Whalan, there is the patch of land the council is selling in the middle of the road. This used to be the NSW Department of housing office, which later closed down.
It is difficult for most of the bus drivers to maneuver this street, heading to Mount Druitt, especially when there are parked cars and there is limited width for a bus to drive past. The left above picture is taken from the Gasmatta Crescent angel and the left side is where the bus driver has to try to get around.
It is suggested by Margaret-Ann Dodd from the Whalan community, that this lad could be made to widen the road and make it more maneuverable for the bus drivers to get through. We will seek response from Blacktown City Council on these 2 issues. If it helps the community, why not?
Personally, I don't think anyone would purchase the land in the middle of the road and build a a private property residence to live on!
