Illegal Dumping Reporting Online - NSW Government!

Report illegal dumping

Use your smartphone to report any illegal dumping throughout NSW.
Old couch dumped on a pile of rubbish beside a road
The RIDonline website lets you report the types of waste being dumped and its GPS location. Photos of the waste can also be added to the report.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA), councils and Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) squads will use this information to investigate and, if appropriate, issue a fine or clean-up notice.
Penalties for illegal dumping can be up to $15,000 and potential jail time for anybody caught illegally dumping within five years of a prior illegal dumping conviction.

This is the first time RIDonline has been opened to the public. Since September last year, the EPA, councils, RID squads and public land managers have used it to report more than 20,000 tonnes of illegally dumped waste across more than 70 local government areas.

The NSW Government has allocated $58 million over five years to tackle illegal dumping as part of its $465.7 million Waste Less Recycle More initiative. NSW Premier Mike Baird has also committed to reducing the volume of litter by 40%, by 2020 to help keep NSW's environment clean.

Editor: Maybe Blacktown City Council should be able to promote this online report to the general public - so it gets used more. I'm sure the Mayor and all councilors agree to this!

New NSW Safer Cycling Laws - For Cyclists - Motorists Must Understand The New Laws!

New cycling safety laws roll out across NSW

Cyclist rides on a busy road

New cycling safety measures to make roads safer for cyclists and motorists will roll out across NSW from 1 March.

Minister for Roads Duncan Gay said the new measures aim to put cycling safety at the forefront of all road users minds.
“If these changes are taken as intended, motorists will be mindful of their minimum passing distance requirements and cyclists are more likely to obey the law and avoid high-risk behaviour such as running red lights,” Mr Gay said.
From 1 March 2016 new safety measures include:
  • Drivers who pass a bicycle rider must allow a distance of at least 1 metre when the speed limit is 60km/h or less
  • Drivers who pass a bicycle rider must allow a distance of 1.5 metres when the speed limit is more than 60km/h.
  • If drivers cannot pass a bicycle rider safely, they should slow down and wait until it is safe to pass the rider, leaving the minimum distance.
  • Drivers caught not allowing the minimum distance when passing a bicycle rider could face a $319 fine and the loss of two demerit points.
The new laws also include increased penalties for bicycle riders to prevent them from dangerous behaviour such as running a red light. From 2017 bicycle riders will be required to produce photo identification when stopped by police who suspect they have committed an offence.
For more information on the changes visit the Transport for NSW website.

PC & Laptop Lovers - If You Need Upgrade With Any Software Go To Rob's Computer Sales & Service Pty Ltd t/as Computer Paramedics!

Yesterday I had to ask Rob at Rob's Computer Sales & Service Pty Ltd T/as Computer Paramedics a bugging question in relation to a laptop inquiry.

It was with great confidence that he responded to myself and reassured myself that it is not a worry for myself. I was asking him do we need to upgrade our Windows version to the free version of Windows 10 as yet and will we have to pay for it later on.

The answers were No and Yes. Important for old people like me that are familiar with  a current system and take time to get a new system. He did suggest he assists 60-70 PC/laptops per week and helps them with our upgrade and that the free trial for Windows 10 will complete by 5-6/2016. We have decided to provide him with our laptops in 5/2016 when we need to renew the anti-viruses and complete the Windows 10 upgrade at the same time.

That  why I fully recommend his business as a small business that goes out of their way to help each customer!

Blacktown City Council's Proposal To Change Name - Costs $98K And Majority Of Residents Do Not Want This Name Change - St Marys-Mount Druitt Star!

So you may remember the motion passed by Blacktown City Council moved by Independent Councillor Russ Dickens and the Liberal Councillors (of that time), last year is now what we thought it was a 'No Go Event'!

Councillor  Russ Dickens has tried and tried to get rid of the Blacktown  name from Council name itself. We as a community in Mount Druitt, part of Blacktown City Council do not consider in this modern world that the 'Blacktown' word itself, has racial connotations to it. Maybe, in the older days, it did. We have all grown up to be proud of living within Blacktown City Council.  The same would have been if Mount Druitt name had to be changed, the same costs would have occurred as well.

$98K spent to satisfy a few thoughts that were floating about. $98k of rate payers money that could have been allocated beautify the area, which changes the image of the named place. I have supply supported the Major, Stephen Bali and his current team on this issue which previous posts published, this was based on re-assessing my belief. I do think that on issues like this, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor should be able to refer these costs to a shared joint community and Council Officers meetings, where a proper  report is tabled  at  a ordinary meeting of Council.

What would have done  with $98K?

Another Month Or More To Fix Sagging Power Lines And Leaning Light Post - William Mason Reserve Mount Druitt!

Amazing, that although the storm damage that raged the Mount Druitt/Rooty Hill area and the aftermath takes delays for Endeavour Energy to  attending to High Risk to lives with sagging power lines and leaning light post in William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt.

Here is the email from their community advocate, confirming we haven't got time to do it  now, 'let's do it later on 31st March 2016'. It appears they have not rated it as a potentially high hazard and risk to the community with children flying kites to these lines and if another potential raging storm is in the same vicinity, that could cause harm or be fatal to any of our community members. I'm not being over protective, just ensuring that the community is safe from such potential hazards!

I have since placed the question why 10 weeks to get these properly addressed. No advice from the Endeavour Energy community advocate, for 2 days!

Here is the email:

One Light Out At Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt, Again!

The other night we have alight out in Dawson Mall , Mount Druitt, which happens from time to time. Usually Blacktown City Council pick up on it pretty quickly! The funny thing thing is, I'm pretty sure that they were out there recently to replace light bulbs.

We hope that Blacktown City Council attend to this soon! We understand that this happens and is time consuming to change these light bulbs, maybe someone has another idea that can be used instead?

Now The Storm Is Ove.. We Need A Short Pathway To Connect William Mason Reserve To Meacher Street (East)

Well, Blacktown City Council  has done an excellent job in removing trees and tree stumps, after the storm of 14th January 2016

We now need  minor improvements to be made at the north eastern end of William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt. The suggested improvement, is a right bend/arc footpath that joins the north eastern  footpath to Meacher Street, North Mount Druitt. The ground also needs to be leveled as it has rough patches and is not easy on feet. Hundreds of community members use this  access way a lot and on behalf of the Mount Druitt, we ask for this important improvement.

'Breaking The Ice Community Forums' Mount Druitt Needs One?

We live in a time where illegal drugs such as 'ice' has been supplied to drug affected community members within New South Wales, whilst the NSW Police is doing it's best to cut the supply of it.

The results of this drug on communities may be not only death to the drug taker but to the people they live within their lives. So to combat this drug, we  need a community forum that reaches out to our Mount Druitt communities, so that we are all educated on this drug, it's affects and side affects. What can be done as a community, with the NSW Government Agencies support and what is there to protect us as a community affected?

I would like to see our strong community advocate for our area (stronger than myself). Hon. Edmond Atalla, NSW State Member of Mount Druitt to take this baton up to  and for the community and let's have our say on 'Breaking the Ice!'

Lockout Laws/Liquor Laws - Have Your Say? - NSW Independent Review Of Liquor Laws!

The NSW Government is offering everyone in NSW to 'Have Your Say' on the Liquor Laws we and reviewing current laws. This is a chance to respond if  would like a change in any way possible.

Everyone has a view and not everyone wants to share their views. I  am quite happy to share my view, so that it may you think of  your choice or thoughts.

I'm not against responsible moderate social drinking for adults. I against drinking abuse and drunk drinkers roaming around the area, catching public transport.

So my simple response to the Hon. Ian Callinan AC QC, Chair of Independent Review of Liquor Laws is no strict opening  of drinking between 12 midnight to 10 am. This will  reduce anti-social behaviour even possible injury to death, which has better outcomes for emergency services like NSW Police and Ambulance and in the long run  governments and legislators

Endeavour Energy Community Advocate Chasing Up Sagging Power Poles and Leaning Power Pole!

Image result for endeavour energy logoEndeavour Energy are concerned that although an inspection has been done on sagging lines and leaning poles that the job hasn't been done yet! This is good customer service in relation to following up on  my reply as to when this job will be completed.  The lady is from customer 'Customer Advocacy', same as what I do, yet mine is with the entire community!

Here is the email:

Hi Mr Svoboda,
09:21 (13 hours ago)

My name is Jess and I work in customer advocacy for Endeavour Energy.

I am writing to let you know that I have been forwarded through your email in regards to the sagging power pole lines and leaning pole in William Mason Reserve. I can see in my system that a pre-site assessment was completed earlier in the month and has recommended heavy vehicle access is necessary. A work request has been successfully created so it may be the access requirements that have held the job up.

I will refer this on to the local depot for this area to enquire when the job is scheduled to go ahead. I will advise you when I have a response.

Thank you for taking the time to send in feedback and if you will to contact me please do so via email or on my direct line listed below.

Dick Smith Customers Mount Druitt - Not In Liquiddation - Will Still Be Trading - Good News For Shoppers!

Image result for dick smith mount druitt
Back in early January this year, there was a shock announcement that shocked the electrical retail trade. After decades of selling Tv's, sound systems, Personal Computers, cameras and many other electrical accessories.  Dick Smith is based at Westfield, Mount Druitt

After  speaking to a Mount Druitt sales person, they are still trading as there is a buyer coming to purchase them out by next week and they will be able to go back into proper retail sales.

This is good for shoppers, searching for and I was advised that Apple Mac computers have been removed from the store as they haven't been making sales targets. Not a lot of people within Mount Druitt can afford these PC's,  yet they are available at Dick Smith Penrith and Blacktown Stores.

Why I lLove Mount Druitt 2 Years On........Still Successful!!!!!

A lot has happened  over the last 2 years on 'Whyilovemountdruitt' blogspot, reading each blog from  beginning to end will assist.en

The one important thing that I think is important is community engagement. What does this mean? This means our Mount Druitt community are reading blogs, placing comments and talking about issues raised, creating such interest and 'Dinner Table Talk Topics'. This blogspot gets all our Local, State and Federal politicians placing actions on immediate improvements, and places topics for talk at Council table meetings, discussions with State and Federal governments. Our Local press have been contacting myself for important improvement stories so far on: safety on Cyclists, Opal Card, more accessible buses and the recent storm damages at Westfield Mount Druitt.

It isn't may stories raised in their eyes for 2 years yet, it is stories they are interested on and they have my permission to publish any blogs on their newspapers, immediately as I have published them.

The general community is where we get the ideas for community improvements as I speak to them and  also from our face book group as well (which  has a small growing membership).

So we have had improvements of small holes in the ground covered, new share footpaths and new railings preventing potential falls on high ground pathways. To come is many more improvements including the completing of pedestrian crossing/ phase walkway, east end of Luxford Road, entrance to Coles Mount Druitt and more Non-smoking signs been placed up as well as checks to ensure people are non-smoking in the right areas!

So, the question is not is 'whyilovemountdruitt' successful in getting improvements, as we know it is. The question is, 'How quick will community improvements that are approved take and then  be completed, once posts are published?

After Endeavour Energy inspected the leaning electricity/light poles and wires, they have agreed to straighten both of them. They obviously agree that it is a potential health health and safety risk to our Mount Druitt community.

It is very good when stake holders take interest and agree with the community.
