A Small Win For Rooty Hill Cyclists - Blacktown City Council Response And Provides Improvements - Thanks to 'whyilovemountdruitt'!

Although I was waiting for Blacktown City Council to get back to myself as to how they actually solved the problems of cyclists at Rooty Hill, tying their bicycles on the railing on the up and down ramp to Rooty Hill train station.

I hadn't been back into that area until this week since then and I noticed a great improvement that Blacktown City Council had provided. They are to be congratulated for listening to the community and responding to 'whyilovemountdruitt's' request. A metal latch has been placed with a chain, on the side of the ramp, connecting to poles holding up the awnings. This is so that bicycles are properly locked on the side, placed away from the public, not only that it looks improved and better. Have a look for yourself

This is only a sample of suggestions for improvements, we are asking relevant authorities and stake holders to attend to. See this bicycle tied to pole correctly and refer to previous  blogs, showing you what was happening and looked before. Although cyclist around the area may not have realised of this small change, they will know a small positive change in the right direction.

Blacktown City Council Traffic Management Officer - To Rooty Hill Bicycle Issues!

I am so happy to report that Blacktown City Council are responding more and more to Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs improvements required for our local community. This is another small win for the community and I am sure cyclists in Rooty Hill will be benefit from it.  There is an investigation of bike racks to  implemented.

I would now like to further suggest that Council place signs strategically in Rooty Hill providing details of hiring the bike lockers and where they are through NSW for Transport.

Cyclists In Rooty Hill Need More Bicycle Racks!

As the community grows and Council Officers are looking to plan for the future of communities of public transport and general transport within Rooty Hill, there seems to be a bit of neglect or oversight to render the situation for cyclists who park their cycles next to ramps leading to Rooty Hill train station.

There a SydneyTrains Biker locker hire at a current cost of $50.00 for 3 months. There are 4 lockers on both North and South Rooty Hill, 4 on South Mount Druitt and 8 at North Mount Druitt. I also think Council consider daily secured biker locker hire for 1 day (coin slots maybe a $2.00 per day) and provide bike racks as a temporary meassyure.

Also promote the Sydney Trains Biker locker hire on the Blacktown City Council website, indicating where these are available at Blacktown City Council train Stations. This is a matter of importance!

Rooty Hill Cyclists - Very Fit!

Enthusiastic bicyclists are keen enough (last Saturday) to ride early in the morning from Rooty Hill to Campbelltown and back again.  These men were back in Rooty Hill around 9.30am-10.00am after leaving around 5.30am-6.30am.

I know as a local bicyclist I am not ready for a ride that long, as I talked to a few of these men, they later advised they had to go back home as their girlfriends and wives were waiting for them and some may even have duties to do at home. They were all eager to  be involved in a photograph.

As a surrounding suburb of Mount Druitt, a great activity for these group of men for a Saturday and  instead of heading towards the pub across the road - half of them  sit along  the shops at North Rooty Hill, relax and have a drink. Maybe I can join them after a few years experience of  bicycle riding!

What do  you think?
