$10 Family Hampers In Mount Druitt - Face Book Group

This is a great idea, for families in need. Imagine it is not Christmas - yet there  are volunteers that  are making affordable food hampers for our community. I am overwhelmed that we have such organisations out within our community that are there helping the poor and needy. Here they are:

From $10 Hampers Mount Druitt Face Book Group:

FAQ - Although this is a long post please see if your questions are answered here and if not comment below. Everyone running this project is volunteering and have families so if all questions could be in the one place it will be greatly appreciated.
🔴When are hampers available?
Every Thursday from 5pm (no earlier)
If one off hampers are available at other times there will be a post.
🔴What's the collection address?
Unit 10, 71 Kurrajong Avenue Mt Druitt 2770.
🔴What's in the hampers?
The contents of the hampers vary each week.
🔴Are the items out of date?
Some items are past the best before date however they are still deemed fit for human consumption.
For further information visit http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/…/…/dates/Pages/default.aspx
🔴How many hampers can I buy?
We have to put a limit to ONE PER FAMILY to make things fair for other families.
🔴Am I guaranteed a hamper?
We have limited hampers however we do try to have at least 100 hampers each week. The hampers are available to the first 100 or so people that are lined up.
🔴Can we deliver?
We are unable to deliver. You can have someone pick up on your behalf but delivery is not available.
🔴How can I be considered / register?
If you are a person living anywhere in Australia or visiting Australia you are qualified and no need to register.
🔴Can I make a donation?
We currently only accept donations for hampers. If you wish to donate please do so by purchasing a hamper and gifting it to someone you know or asking us to gift it to someone in need who contacts us.
🔴Who is the organisation?
We are a group of individuals running the project under the umbrella of "Brothers In Need".
🔴Where does the money go?
All proceeds go to being able to provide hampers for the following week and helping families in need.
🔴Can I volunteer?
At this stage we have just started recently and are still working out our logistics. If you would be interested in volunteering please let us know but it may be a while until we know where we stand to accept volunteers.
🔴How do you make this happen?
The items are mostly purchased from the FOODBANK which relies on large supermarket donations to be able to sell to organisations/charities at a reduced rate. Without such organisations our service would not be possible.
🔴Why only Mount Druitt?
We have just started this project and although we may look to expand in the future we are limited to the one location currently. If you are out of the area please feel free to message us to see if we are aware of any groups that offer a similar service in your area.
🔴What is the demand like?
We are still working out the demand for the area as we have had very little exposure until recently so we will try to adjust hampers to meet the demand. Please bare with us. We are all volunteers doing this in our own time and we may have a few learning curbs.
🔴Why do you do this?
We believe everyone should be able to have access to food every week and as much as they NEED. We charge the donation per hamper so we can provide an on going service.
🔴Can I pick up on another day via appointment?
At this stage we only have hampers on Thursdays at 5pm
If we have any left they may be offered Friday morning but will be posted on the page if available.

Removal of Fallen Tree on Shennan Walkway - Response Blacktown City Council

We have had an instant response from Blacktown City Council officers, in reference to a left over bent over  tree branch that would have been affecting pedestrians, after a storm occurred within our area. This happened on the top of Shennan Walkway, Mount Druitt.

A letter of response From Blacktown City Council, can be viewed here

I suppose the question, now asked is does the tree get replaced or  will there be no more trees there. What do you think should happen, as community members.

2 Bus Stops Closed At Wilmot - Anti-social behaviours

What is our world coming too? I have been a staunch public transport advocate  and have always tried  to educate our wonderful community how we do not want anti-social behaviours to stop any bus services.

It has come to a point where Busways bus drivers are at risk everytime they are at a wheel of a bus taking commuter to and from their homes to Mount Druitt. So on Captain Cook Drive, Wilmot bus stops 2770334 and 2770362 have been closed for Bus driver safety reasons otherwise known as 'anti-social reasons'.This is a tempoary clossure which started a s from 29th March 2017.

This is a shock to the local Wilmot community that has had this happen to them. I have spoken to a community member from Wilmot and told people know who is involved in these crimes and these people don't care of their actions.

I also recently spoke to a  Busways bus driver and he said it has been happening at that spot for a while and Police know who they are as well.

Let's hope these people understand the disruption to bus services now happening in Wilmott.

Do our Parks And Reserves Need Bicycle Racks?

Interesting topic, isn"t it? We have Parks and Reserves in our Local Government Areas that do not have many community members using them and then we have major ones that our people in our community use for children's playing: exercising, walking, jogging and/running.

So, these community members may also cycle around and park their bicycles on poles by locking  and tying them up, (as happened in below picture).

Althouth, according to authorities it would be illegal  to do so and also look improper, it would be advidable to provide bicycle racks to prevent this from happening.

It may sound like a silly idea but I do think it may not be inf Council can combined cycling fitness with local Parks and Reserves to improving lives. This would be especially making sense if it is Nurrangingy Reserve where families come to picnic, play and rest.

This will also prevent this from happening:

Response From NSW Premier On Air-condidtioned Buses Required in Mount Druitt & Surrounds

So we have a bureaucratic response from  the NSW Premiers Office on the issues facing Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs  bus commuters, on unair-conditioned buses

The figures don't match up to Lester's previous report from  our Face Book Group and there is  no depot figures to confirm 80% in Bus Region 1, buses are air-conditioned. The great news is that 23 new buses will enter the Busways fleet which includes other regions, so we end up with less than 23.

What do you all think, is this sufficient? Are we being looked after air-conditioned buses?  We are 6% still being Sydney Metropolitan area, why isn't it the same?

I know one fact, that our blogspot raising this issue, has definitely raised eyes within our NSW Government and Busways Officials.

Nickelodeon Slime Competition In Mount Druitt - Westfield, Mount Druitt

Green Fairy Floss
Westfield Entrance to The Slime Comp
I found This Slime Spot in Westfield

I was walking back through Mount Druitt Town Square and had seen families and families, children and young children. There was closed off areas, tents, marquees, screaming children of joy and a super slime  completion for children.

Then I had seen children coming out of this racing type of competition, greeting their parents with complete wet slime on their dress tops and T-Shirts, Some children even had 'Green Hair'. So what was it?

It was a great initative by the Management of Westfield, Mount Druitt, so sponsor the Nickelodeon Foxtel Children's Chanel, where they compete for  the 'Slime Cup' and be seen on TV.

It is great to bring this fantastic even to Mount Druitt, although I think this could be, promoted more within the community and I know Westfield do their best to advertise it. This publish post should do more for it as I believe it is an event that Mount Druitt has every year.

ANZAC Day 2017 ... I/We Will Remember Them

Image result for ANZACS at war
We  live in a country that has no wars, yet we have men and ladies that hat previous fought for the goodness of the world and for eternal peace. Yes a lot of us don't believe this will ever happen. I do.

Image result for ANZACS at warWe remember our  every day "Anzacs" as they have fought in wars in the Boer War at the turn of the 19th Century in South Africa, in Europe, especially in France and Turkey in World wars I and II: In Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand and Pacific Islands as well as our own Shores in Sydney and Darwin. Then can Borneo, Vietnam, our entry into Iraq through the Gulf War, Afghanistan and current war on ISIL.

As a young nation, we  have had innocent people dying for our country whilst in service, in honour of total world unity and peace. Some wars we have lost especially in Turkey World War I, on the Somme's in France,  yet battles were fought, we never gave up. Blood was lost so that other lives blood survives and  people lead good lives. So Today, I will remember them, those that fought and sacrificed their lives, their time and volunteered for everyone else to have a better life.

We all believe in peace and yet each war brings some peace, but for some other reason another war starts. One person can not have power to stop a war but one person can pray for all wars to stop for 'Forever Peace'. One day it will happen and everyone will be in living in the world for  true peace.

Service NSW Mount Druitt Has Great Service

I hardly used the Service  NSW Office at Mount Druitt, yet when you have to use it, the employees are friendly, helpful and full of customer service energy.

I had to go online and fill in a form and they showed myself the way to  the  Desk Top computer that we can use online for this particular application. I then  completed this application and then the Service NSW employees printed it off for myself.

Then I  picked up my queue ticket and waited for about 5 minutes, before I was served. The  lady on counter advised that my first name didn't match. I had 'Joihn', so I had to go and fill up a new application and come back to her immediately and she will serve me.  So I did this correction immediately with the first name and came up with a new application (with a new queue ticket) and returned to the same service desk where the lady was and watched her log out of her PC and  go outside for a break.

I  then waited at her counter and the lady at the work station next to her, took on my application and said she noticed her colleague was doing other things. So application was correctly matched to my and processed. This customer service lady said that my name was correct this time and by 2-3 days should receive an email with confirmation. I said on the documents it says, 'It says up to 4 weeks'. She advised that is in high times. I thanked her for assisting me.

This is the type of   customer service, we should good anywhere - great iea NSW Government to have this Government  Department catering for the community. Excellent Service

Everyone

Mount Druitt's Reconciliation Walk 2017

One of Mount Druitt community and surrounding suburbs historical events for over 20 years is the 'Mount Druitt Reconcilliation Walk'

This walk to me, pays respect to our historical aboriginal people, traditional owners of our land, that have walked across all Australian lands thoudands of years ago. If we do not respect and understand these people, we are placing them as 'outcasts' or even forgetting them. I will respect them and I do respect them as this is their own 'Australian Aboriginal Day'.

I care for the land I live in,
I care for the land I step around in,
I care for who's land and we live in,
And I care for the past aboriginals and the current people living.

This is our sign of giving time for total respect,
That we want all Australian people to be given this respect and accept.
In this we say 'Sorry' to all who had seen white man dominate and rule,
It is our one and only day to recognise the Aboriginal people and make their history stand tall in our presence.

Here are the details, for all to attend:

Plumpton Market Place Has Got The Right Idea With Pedestrian Access Car Parks

So after many years, I finally noticed what is needed in all shopping centres which allows pedestrians to walk from their  car space in the car park directly and safely to the Shopping centre is a clear walkway between parked cars. You will notice that it leads to a pedestrian crossing, for access to the shopping centre

Image result for Plumpton MarketplaceLike everything there is 'fors' and 'against' for this idea, yet when all weighed out, the 'fors' should have it. The 'againsts', in this idea is the use of more land, slight loss of car park spaces and may cost the owners more money to  provide this infrastructure. The 'fors' for providing this infrastructure is most importantly and primarily health and safety for the consumers/ shoppers, who are entering or exiting the shopping centre. To me, the saving a life is cost worth spending on and is a gigantic 'Yes' for me.

Maybe, Westfield Mount could consider this type of options for future planning.

Fallen Trees Not Attended Too - After Sorms

Here is a Face Book Video - on a Fallen Tree that has been  left as it is for about 2- 3 weeks on the top of Shennan Walkway, Mount Druitt Click here to watch it or here.

Being aware that after storms it talks time to get a community back into order and place, sometimes parts of the community can be overlooked. So, by taking videos of community improvements can  speed up the process for  proper improvement by relevant stakeholders. This is all we are asking for.

Mount Druitt Buses Easter Public Holidays - Lack Of Adequate Services

For many years commuters of Mount Druitt suffer on Sundays and Public Holidays, on lack of adequate time tabled bus service within Mount Druitt and NSW Bus Region 1.

This is part of, what has kept myself being involved as an advocate originally, for public transport for 7 1/2 years and over the last 3 years as a advocate for community improvements.

We even know in parts of Bidwill, they get no bus services on Easter Holiday - 4 days in a row, due to each day from Friday to Monday Easter weekend being a public holiday.  When bus services are discussed for NSW Bus Region 1, the public is not invited, yet they say it is based on community feed back, demand for services and future growth of our area. Yet the community is not open to provide input to the NSW Bus Region Tending of bus services and the supplying of routes and bus services.

I always remember what from NSW Transport Representatives says, 'If we provide a new bus service to an area requiring a bus service, then we have to take it away from another bus area service, within the region.'

This is where I shake my head over this and say, based on growth of the area you do not increase one service and reduce another are just to maintain services, that is just a cover up. You provide the new  bus service and leave it as and that covers growth and vital community essential services required. More adequate bus services are required on Sunday and Public Holidays, especially within Mount Druitt and surrounding suburbs communities.
