Blacktown City Council 2016 Australia Day Awards -Nominate Someone In Mount Druitt!

Do you know an unsung community hero, someone inspiring and worthy of recognition?


Blacktown City Council is calling for nominations from the community for the 2016 Australia Day Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.


The Australia Day Awards have become the most sought-after, prestigious and publicly recognised awards program in the Blacktown LGA.

The awards recognise and pay tribute to local individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to community service, have attained remarkable achievement in education, sport, the arts or a community group that have organised a successful event in the community.

Contribution includes areas such as; education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of the Blacktown community.

Citizen of the Year Award:
To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen who has on a voluntary basis, contributed to the welfare and betterment of the people within the Blacktown community throughout the year and/or over a number of years.

Young Citizen of the Year Award:
To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen and 18 years of age or less on 26 January 2016, who has provided outstanding community service and/or attained outstanding achievement in academics, sport or the arts during the year and/or over a number of years.

Community Event of the Year Award:
This is presented to the group that have staged the most outstanding community event during 2015.

The winners will be announced at Blacktown City Council’s 2016 Australia Day Council Luncheon on Australia Day, Tuesday, 26 January, 2016.  This event is by invitation only.

We encourage you to submit nominations of yourself, a friend, family member, community leader or colleague who you believe have gone above and beyond their call of duty to serve the Blacktown community over the last 12 months or longer.

Let’s give them the recognition they deserve!
 
Nominations close: Friday, 15 January, 2016.

Editors Notes: It would be good to nominate someone in Mount Druitt that has taken the lead, worked in voluntary organisations,  stood up for the community and  getting results that the community need and want for  being the best out of people
