Whalan Has Received A Footpath Upgrade - Ivy Roberson Is Mystified Why The Other Joining Paths Not Done At Same Time!

We keep on speaking about how footpath improvements/upgrades are important as our community grows and it has been long time between.

I remember about 10-15 years ago, I complained about footpath improvements required in Whalan, where there were cracks and parts of the pathway was deteriorating. The engineer came over with heavy duty factory boots. He said it was alright and they will do a 'patch work', asked myself who's going to pay or fit and then leaving a further comment that the upgrade is not required. I advised him that that a majority of the community, walk in things or soft  running shoes and if they trip.... he just didn't seem interested. I think my comment flew over his head!

Also the new footpath that has been constructed between Neriba Crescent right through to Bulolo Drive, passing Lae and Wau Places Whalan. With this the junction that meets another footpath that stretches from Karangi Road right through to Luxford Gardens, Luxford Road, Whalan, which has not been upgraded, as well as many other lane ways around that area.

Local Whalan Community Action Group President, Ivy Roberson has contacted Blacktown City Council engineer to see all the other lane ways were not done, which makes it look odd and be odd. She was told they are all 'Work In Progress' earmarked for the next 2 to 3 years. She also has asked Council to block ends of Lae & Wau Place, so that cars can not go onto foot paths.

When you build a town, you don't just build one house leave the rest of houses to be built in 2-3 years. It all happens at once! Yet, it is also depending on how much money budgeted for community footpath improvements that will enable Blacktown City Council to provide the right improvements at the right time. The silly thing is Lae and Waugh Place footpaths are an individual distance of possibly 15-20 metres each.

So maybe it would have been better to upgrade all paths altogether and may be at least the short footpaths could be done immediately, to make the community better, even though it is a short distance ones! We hope that the improvements Ivy is asking for happens sooner!
