NSW Government Wants To Change The Residential Tenancies ACT 2010 - Needs Your Feed BacK - Sydney Alliance!

Image result for sydney allianceThe Sydney Alliance is asking community members all over Sydney, to provide feedback or experiences to the NSW Government as it reviews its policies on the Residential Tenancies Act 2010. This is the act that governs the rights and responsibilities of us as renters and landlords. They're conducting an online consultation and want to hear your thoughts and experiences.

I was born in the 80s and I've already reconciled myself to the idea that I will likely be a renter for life. For me, this means that I'd like a more secure lease, or at lieast price stability so my rent doesn't increase every 6 or 12 months. It means that I'd like to hang up a picture on my wall, and maybe even repaint my lime green kitchen wall!

Together, we can share our stories and our thoughts about renting in NSW and hopefully see through changes which allow us to make safe and stable homes out of our rental properties.

Too often we hear about reviews and assume that only an organisation with formal policy staff can write a submission, but a little known secret is that anyone has the right and ability to share their lived experience - whether it's sent through as a formal submission or whether it's sent through as a story of an experience you've had.

To share your experiences, all you need to do is send the Review Committee an email by 29 January to policy@finance.nsw.gov.au and tell them about your experience as a renter.

For more information or to read the full discussion paper you can visit their website at: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/sites/ftw/About_us/Have_your_say/Residential_tenancy_laws_review.page

Why should the residence of places like Mount Druitt find and increase in rent for renters, increase in Council Rates for home owners , because some one sold a record price property at Double bay or alike. I notice on Mr Bairds announcement of increased public transport to be built . anywhere west of Westmeade was not included in the planning. Lets face it, west of Westmaede, one hiccup in public transport time tables and we are screwed.
