Blacktown City Council has begun a $31.6 million upgrade to widen Boundary Road and McCulloch Street between Schofields Road and Cranbourne Street, Riverstone.
Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali MP said the upgrade was a vital infrastructure project for the community.
“The multi-million dollar upgrade will result in the transformation of Boundary Road/McCulloch Street from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane major urban road which includes an unmarked parking lane and driving lane,” Mayor Bali said.
“Boundary Road and McCulloch Street is a major road providing access to local streets, and a key flood evacuation route.
“When complete, it will improve traffic flow, unlock land for housing development and accommodate future traffic growth in the area.”
The upgrade was made possible after Blacktown City Council successfully lobbied the NSW Government for a $58.5 million grant to upgrade Hambledon Road and widen Boundary Road/McCulloch Street.
Funding for the road upgrades is from the Government’s Restart NSW Fund designed to deliver high priority infrastructure projects.
The Boundary Road/McCulloch Street project is expected to be completed by December 2020.
