Construction on the new $4.5 million Woodcroft Neighbourhood Centre is well underway to the delight of the local community.
Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali MP said the new centre will be a valuable gathering centre for the community.
“Once completed the Woodcroft Neighbourhood Centre will be an asset for the community,” Mayor Bali said.
“The new centre has been designed with the needs of the community in mind.
“A consultation room, a multipurpose room for 24, a community hall for 200 people, kitchen, kitchenette, toilets, and community storage rooms will all be available.
“The building will also feature a stage to engage 200 people or more during the annual Woodcroft Festival.”
The design for the Woodcroft Neighbourhood Centre, by Carter Williamson Architects, is focused on increasing hall capacity and providing a modern iconic looking building.
Council awarded the building contract to Westbury Constructions - construction is expected to be completed by mid-2019.
In 2015 the popular neighbourhood centre was destroyed by a fire.
