We spoke about ATO* Scammers and fraudsters before now there is a growing rate of people scanning devices that will scan your credit cards through your wallet/purse out in the open streets. Next thing your money is gone!
Now available at handbag/ bag stores is a Credit Card Defender, which will block people scanning your wallet/purse at a small cost of $10.00 under, when you place it in your wallet/purse. I must admit it also prevents Opal Cards being scanned at electronic ticketing machines. I suggest you get o protect your money!

Mount Druit Train Station Upgrade Follow Up!
The interest is getting high, the commuters that I am speaking to are buzzing about improvements required at Mount Druitt Train Station, to cater for busy peak periods, where queues are twentyfold, down to the platform 3-4 on week day afternoons.
I believe that St Marys train station has more barriers then Mount Druitt train barriers, yet there are less commuters traveling through St Marys train station then Mount Druitt train station. According to the NSW Barriers Statistics 2014 Mount Druitt 7,410 commuters over a 24 hour time period as opposed to St Marys 4,560 commuters over the same period.
So, Ron from Whalan has produced a video with myself as mainly on the video on what I am doing and lobbying for today*.

Community Members Given Cleaning Equipment For Bus Time Tables & Bus Stop Improvements at Shlavey - Brent From Shalvey
Last week, I bumped into Brent Robertson, former Greens Candidate for Mount Druitt at last years election and noted that one of many respectable community Members within Mount Druitt, he is still working voluntarily hard within the community, for improvements and questioning why things can not be improved.
He has been successful in obtaining a time on section bus stop in Emerson Street, Shalvey Click here for Busways 755 Route , on both sides of the street.Which is a significant improvement for bus commuters within the area.
The question now arises what is the law in relation relation to supplying bus time tables to bus service routes. Is the legal requirement bus time tables at each Section bus stop? Also, what is the same legal requirements for sheltered seats/ bus shelter. I will find out and hope to get a response from relevant Stake Holders.
Brent also advised that Blacktown City Council has supplied him with cleaning agents/equipment, allowing him to remove graffiti at Mount Druitt bus interchange
What has been noted is when it rains at Mount Druitt bus interchange, seats are wet. So we will need to ask relevant government members and bodies for inspection, feed back and positive response. I'm sure even they wouldn't like to sit on wet seats!
It has been noted that the bus stop outside Red Rooster, Emerton requires a bus stop shelter heading to Shalvey.

After The Storm - Less Trees - Any Replacements - 'Whyilovemountdruitt' Face Book Group'
Do you remember the storm in January this year? I do! Click here for previous posts
So whilst trees were chopped, removed and in some cases, stumped left in the ground. Little has been done to replace at this stage trees, removed from bushland, parks and reserve areas. Unless, there is the thought that replacing them could cause more damage to the community, if another natural disaster happens and the new trees are fully grown. I don't know how the parks and reserves management of Blacktown City Council operates, yet I sure there is thought about regenerating plants and trees , that will assist out local birds and animals.
Her is a post from Ron:

It
would appear when you wish to have a tree removed from your premises
you need council approval, Alas if your the council, remove as many
trees as you want, no problem. After the big storm earlier this year
some trees did need to come down , but this many ? Cockatoos and Galahs
are just two native birds that nest in hollow trunks. I know of two of
these trees that had nests. I wonder if any one checked ?
We have a survey to complete for the community, on after the storm tree removal and replaced? You find this on the bottom of our website, please complete it to provide feed back!

Trauma Support For Railway Staff - As They Deal With Issues Every Day!
When we travels on trains in our Sydney Railway network, we are most sublime to the Railway staff that deal with many difficult situations every day: new directions from Management that may affect their job stress level, abuse from commuters, accidents and emergencies that require their assistance.
I know a majority of the Sydney Trains staff at Mount Druitt and they are true blue human beings, like us. Their emotions are the same as ours, so should something negative happen in their working environment, they may need to ensure that they are OK!
We have seen how a post is the recent past here has portrayed an incident where abuse was made at a Mount Druitt Sydney Trains Staff and next day, did not escape Police in charges being laid.
So having an application that you can upload on your mobile phone "Trauma Support", may make their lives healthier as they using this application. Check it out as I will notify the Mount Druitt railway staff this week about this application.

Poll Results: Vandalism Poll!
One of our Poll Results (bottom of Home Page), although generated a small result, indicates how Mount Druitt community feels about certain issues. These people that have responded want things to improve and would like our State Member for Mount Druitt, Hon. Edmond Atalla has to take great interest in this topic.
I thought as much that the result would be clear cut. Among dealing with many community issues, I know that Hon. Edmond Atalla has been cleaning up State Government owned Property that has been vandalised. I'm sure he is investigating ways to prevent this vandalism occurring with the community, as there is a lot of cleaning costs added on.

Should State Member of Mount Druitt address vandalising issue in Mount Druitt?
Result: 4 votes polled Yes.
So this could be the mandate from the community given to our State Member, to look at avenues of preventing this issue getting worse and also to reduce it!
I encourage everyone to poll your votes on other Polls on bottom of Home Page!

Today Is Earth Day - Caring For Our Environment - Including Illegal Dumping And Littering - Telegrapgh UK
Another great worldly idea which our local Mount Druitt area would be able to work on, from here on in.
Maybe we could have a 'Mount Druitt Care Day', where the entire community gets involved about illegal dumping of rubbish and littering as discussed in a previous post Click here
Check out how you can help out here or at least look at the below 1 minute video:

Well, it has been a long time that I have recorded music from the Blacktown City Brass Band and I have just been informed that they are playing tomorrow night, just outside the Woolworths, Westfield Mount Druitt exit.
May I suggest that you ask them for your favourite music and they might even play it for you.

Mount Druitt Historical Society Inc 'Mount Druitt Estate Photography Display' & 'The Oak's Plumpton Presentation'
The Mount Druitt Historical Society Inc is holding open community days to display local historical events that have occurred. To me, local knowledge is important is it so good and great that this group retains and maintains the history of our area. Here is an opportunity to bring yourself and your family and be educated, then you are well informed and tell others. The address is 23 The Avenue,Mount Druitt!
Maybe you would like to volunteer and assist them:

If Only Blacktown Council Cleared This Area At Hythe Street Reserve Mount Druitt......
I have been totally disgusted with the way some community members trash our areas: streets, roads and Dawson Mall. I was educated and taught about personal and community hygiene, tidiness, neatness and and cleanliness.
Yet, time after time, after Blacktown City Council officers spend hours, picking up and cleaning areas where any amounts of rubbish are dumped or dropped, voluntarily. There are the few that think because they walk on or around public property, they can do what they like with it, including burn rubbish , if not picked up.
I'm sure that Blacktown City Council spend Millions of Dollars of 'Keeping our communities clean'! More community pride will reduce these costs, thus reducing council rates and more for useful expenditure!

Here is Grass Fire at Hythe Street Reserve Mount Druitt today |
I have reported in the past, issues of dumped rubbish and over grown grass on the Hythe Street Reserve, Mount Druitt (which is along Ear Street) and have not received a response from NSW EPA or Blacktown City Council as yet, either from Councillors or Council Officers. If only they had responded and cleared this rubbish. That would have been a start and then maintain the property by mowing the grass down.
A suggestion from a former Blacktown City Councillor, Kathy Collins is so simple that I do think Council need to look at this inniative: that community members pick up rubbish in front of their own properties as they place their rubbish bins, each week for pick up.
Resolution to this problem, is not one person's responsibility. Let's go back to teaching the basics of keeping our community clean and tidy to our community. The following are the ways I think our community can change:
- Kathy Collins suggestion of clean front of your house, when placing rubbish bins ready for pick up.
- Promotions of "Tosser Campaign" all around Dawson Mall/Mount Druitt Town Square, streets and all Parks/Reserve within Mount Druitt, materials obtained through NSW EPA litter.prevention@epa.nsw.gov.au
- Each Councillor from Blacktown City Council, must spread the word of a cleaner environment at every public meeting they address and every community member they meet.
- Keep your community clean signs - place the amount of fines on signs.
- Local radio and newspaper media remind and the community that the cleaner we keep our land the emphasis on a cleaner life to live in!
- Council Rangers fining community members and then the community will start to get the word - or if the community member wants to spend a day cleaning up a few streets instead - that will pay their dues or go out to the community likes schools and business, to teach them the right way of keeping our community clean.
- Blacktown City Council, should organise cleaning of an report an public area within 3 to 4 days, not neglect it - like what has happen here!
- Maybe Council can engage the community in open forums where people make suggestions of improvements in this area.
I'm sure that Blacktown City Council spend Millions of Dollars of 'Keeping our communities clean'! More community pride will reduce these costs, thus reducing council rates and more for useful expenditure!

Upgrade Of Playgrounds Across Blacktown $1.2M - St Marys Mount Druitt Star!
Great initiative from Blacktown City Council and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson, to improve and upgrade public park playgrounds within Blacktown City Council, with 5 wards in Blacktown City Council, I would expect about 6-7 playgrounds upgraded within Mount Druitt suburbs:
