Smokers Puff Their Way To Fitness......Rooty Hill RSL Car Park

Image result for rooty Hill RSL

Last week I was  walking through the Rooty Hill RSL Multi-Storey car park , towards North Parade  making my way to The SGAC, when a few young men were swearing and  smoking their way in front of my face.

Image result for no smoking signsI ended up to be a passive smoker, coping the smoke. My concern was the Rooty Hill RSL Multistorey Car Park is for members of the RSL using the SGAC Gymnastic Centre or Gym.

If they are promoting health and fitness within Rooty Hill RSL, I feel there should be a total smoking ban within the complex and compound.

Image result for rooty Hill RSL car parkAlthough I have reported the incident to the SGAC official as a feed back, I recommend complete banning of smokes within the car park. I was informed that there are designated smoking areas within the car park. I don't think the designated areas are on the higher levels of the car park, actually in the  drive way of  cars passing by.

In actual fact there are no visible 'Non-smoking signs' all around Rooty Hill Car Park and promoting a health and gym club doesn't really stick if people are allowed to smoke near or outside the Gym. Let's hope there can be some action done on this.

Off The Eaten Truck Opposite Rooty Hill RSL - "Movember"

While I am trying to raise funds for "Movember" Click here,  Rooty Hill RSL has  also looked at a fundraising campaign to as  this cause.  Something new and unusual.

I received a text message from Rooty Hill RSL regarding an 'Off The Eaten Truck" event from 11am-1pm Saturday and today 11am-9pm.  It wasn't what I thought it it was going to be as I was expecting so many large trucks offering food, but unaware how they would do it.

In fact, it there was about two or three lorry trucks there, yet there was many vans converted to plenty of food stores and even old ship containers, all store were from different countries. I even had seen  something new: icecream sandwich.

Even, would you believe there was 'Elvis' and  a couple of show girls at the event. I recognised him.

There was also a school bus converted to a food store as well - not many school kids on board.

Furthermore, there was  religious food store, showing scriptures and thy  were happily dancing and singing while they are making pizzas. This one  seemed to have the longest queue for food

For children, there was  other activities like a climbing jumping castles and a small animal farm for children to touch and  cuddle. Adults were taking pictures even selfies with them.

There was plenty of people at the event and there were queues galore for the community to take time on deciding on what to eat and then eat there.

A great new idea to raise funds for 'Movember'. I would like to eventually see how much is actually raised but I'm sure it will be in the thousands.

Rooty Hill RSL $1,000,000 Draw Left Members Startled And Stunned - Win Final Winnings!

Rooty Hill has been on a promotion for giving away a chance to win $1,000,000, minimum $10,000 cash, open to members. It was a great promotion and everyone was entirely been encouraged by  employees of Rooty Hill  and SGAC to scan membership card  every time on entry and pop the receipt into the $1,000,000 barrel.

So the came came  at 2.30pm when they brought 50 cases in ( all numbered from 1 to 50), one with $1,000,000 cash and the rest at least $10,000 in the cases. So, there were thousands at the event and the first name drawn did not respond within 4 minutes. So whilst the lottery officials were watching, there was a redraw and an elderly lady chose number 48 cases and received  $15,000, then they showed number 38 case that had $1,000,000!

Image result for rooty hill rsl drawThat was it for the promotion! Members of the club thought there was going to be more draws until the $1,000,000 was drawn - there was a sudden sadness and let down of emotion when it was announced it was finished. Members stunned and  startled! My wife suggested they should have called up 2 more members tickets, to make it exciting, so they could chose 2 more cases

So that's just it a big hype and excitement for the $1,000,000 prize, with a big let down as only $15,000 was won. I'm sure the lottery Officials are  happy that Rooty Hill RSL have  completed their draw. Was it a fair draw? let the Statements speak  themselves, maybe the Directors of the Club could change their $1,000,000 draw prize chances to win next time!

Rooty Hill RSL Dawn Service - Thousands Witness The Wonderful Commenoration of the 100th Landing of Anzacs At Gallipoli!

Early this morning local dignitaries, and representatives of the Australian Armed Services had marched from Rooty Hill Public School  to Rooty Hill RSL, the Master of Ceremony was  Television  Personality, Kerri-anne Kennerly.

An elderly lady advised that 43 years ago her husband, one out of a hundred or so that joined up as a new member of the Rooty Hill RSL (which was historic) and she said no body wanted an RSL club in the area and believed  this area could have an RSL, yet alone. Now, Rooty Hill RSL is one of the largest and biggest RSL's in Western Sydney!

As I marched from my home towards Rooty Hill RSL in the freshness of the morning, there were community members in hundreds parking their cars far away from Rooty Hill RSL along Railway Street. They were bringing their young children, young couples, elderly couples and people carrying large Australian flags to the event.

As I passed the Rooty Hill Car Park was completely full, not one space available. The nearer I got, the more I did not realise that just around the corner, entrance to Rooty Hill RSL, there was  thousands on thousands of community members that wanted to pay their respects. They were quietly waiting as crowds were making their way to seats or left over standing spaces. I found a prime spot that allowed myself to take videos.

The ceremony was great and I suggest you checkout the videos produced. I just apologise, I rang out room to film the end of the service, but I think you will understand what it was like!

Dawn Service For Commemorating ANZACS All Wars At Rooty Hill RSL

We that never fought external wars and fight sometimes times personal wars to seek eternal peace, need to spare a moment to commemorate the men and women of past wars that fought for what we have today. We do this by remembering the historic landing at Anzac Cove in Turkey, where both Australians and New Zealanders fought together in a part of a lost battle. We are the only nations that celebrate a losing battle that happened over 100 years ago. We do remember them!

The Ode of Remembrance:

The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon and was published in London in the Winnowing Fan; Poems of the Great War in 1914. The verse, which became the League Ode, was already used in association with commemoration services in Australia in 1921.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Where is our local Dawn Service:

ROOTY HILL RSL
Where: Corner of Rooty Hill Nth Parade and Westminster Street, Rooty Hill.
Time: 5am

We will remember them: Services commemorating ANZAC Day will take place across Sydney.

Rooty Hill RSL Upgrade - Catering For Next 50 years!

Rooty Hill RSL is large major Club - within the  Rooty Hill - Mount Druitt area. I even heard story  that when the 'Mount Druitt Workers Club - now known as 'West Tradies' was seeking a Club license, from the licensing board, Rooty Hill RSL knocked them back and it eventually it was provided to them.

Anyway, we notice recently that Rooty Hill RSL is upgrading Club facilities, so they can cater for the future 50 years. This is great for the community and for the Club, they are 'Thinking for the future'! We can't wait for the final result.

Blacktown City Council is planing for the next 20-30 years - so that makes then 20-30 years behind Rooty RSL.

Rooty Hill RSL even has a TV Station, amazing!

Rooty Hill RSL Overlooks Required Pesdestrian Crossing on North Parade!

Rooty Hill RSL is a major community club, that  provides entertainment, accommodation and exercise facilities for the community. It has in the recent years updated their premises to accommodate for the growing community with quite a few facilities, inviting and attracting members of he community.

In its planing catering for these improved facilities, it has neglected to care for the pedestrian and public transport bus commuters that catch buses from North Rooty Hill and set down at North Parade, Rooty Hill (Opposite the multiple story car park).

North Parade Bus Stop, Rooty Hill
The road is dangerous and can be a threat of health and safety, to the general community, when crossing the road. Commuters also catch the bus to Mount Druitt in the return trip to Mount Druitt. The main entrance at Sherbrooke Street, Rooty Hill has a pedestrian crossing, so why should another entrance, be neglected? No reason!

We ask Blacktown City Council to provide a pedestrian crossing, as requested to provide a safer community!
