I am posting this email received from Life Line to yourselves, in case you or some one you know needs that little extra help in their lives. They can look at helping you turn lives around to a positive.
Lifeline was a light in my darkest hour
Dear John,
Have
you ever found it difficult to cope? Have things ever been so bad you
didn't know where to turn, and thought about taking your own life?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, you're not alone.
1
in 5 Australians will experience some kind of mental health issue this
year. For many, things will reach crisis point. But there's no need to
suffer alone.
If
you or someone you love is at breaking point and considering suicide,
please contact Lifeline. You can contact us 24/7 on 13 11 14 or at www.lifeline.org.au/Get-Help.
This
year Lifeline will take more than a million calls from Australians in
crisis. Many of these calls will save the lives of people like Tanya.
She
made a call to Lifeline in 2010 that saved her life. She had been
battling depression, anxiety and an eating disorder – and couldn't see a
way out.
Tanya had reached her lowest point the night she called Lifeline. It was her absolute last resort.
She couldn't be more thankful for the kind woman on the other end of the phone who listened and helped her find a way to cope.
"Lifeline
was an incredible support for me, and the moment of pause before doing
anything. They helped me learn there were alternatives to suicide."
Tanya says that calling Lifeline that night saved her, and helped turn her life around. Now she is looking forward to her future with excitement and optimism.
If you – or someone close to you – is having trouble coping, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or at www.lifeline.org.au/Get-Help.
Because any life lost to suicide is a tragedy.
Warmest regards,
Pete Shmigel CEO, Lifeline |
