Mount Druitt's Reconciliation Walk 2017

One of Mount Druitt community and surrounding suburbs historical events for over 20 years is the 'Mount Druitt Reconcilliation Walk'

This walk to me, pays respect to our historical aboriginal people, traditional owners of our land, that have walked across all Australian lands thoudands of years ago. If we do not respect and understand these people, we are placing them as 'outcasts' or even forgetting them. I will respect them and I do respect them as this is their own 'Australian Aboriginal Day'.

I care for the land I live in,
I care for the land I step around in,
I care for who's land and we live in,
And I care for the past aboriginals and the current people living.

This is our sign of giving time for total respect,
That we want all Australian people to be given this respect and accept.
In this we say 'Sorry' to all who had seen white man dominate and rule,
It is our one and only day to recognise the Aboriginal people and make their history stand tall in our presence.

Reconciliation Gathering, Walk and Concert

Residents and visitors are invited to join this year’s Reconciliation Walk and Gathering Concert at Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt!
You are invited to join this year’s Reconciliation Walk and Gathering Concert at Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt on Saturday 20 May from 10.30am.

The event will include stage entertainment, various stalls, demonstrations, workshops and the Mount Druitt’s Got Talent Competition. Reconciliation is the building of mutual and respectful relationships between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians to help the two cultures unite as one.

The Reconciliation Walk will commence at 12.00 noon from Dawson Mall.
