Emerton - History Of Emerton Street Names - Mount Druitt Historical Society Face Book Group!

We Start off with the suburb name:
Emerton (hence Emert Parade) takes its name from William Frederick Emert who arrived from Germany in 1853. In 1861 he became a storekeeper and postmaster in Mount Druitt.

Bach Avenue - Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), a German composer, born of a family of Thuringian origin noted for musical genius. He was one of the supremely great musicians of the world.

Handel Ave named after George Frederick Handel (1685-1759) a German-English composer. He wrote for the part in the Italianate style of the day and his works included operas, conatas, oratorios and other orchestral, instrumental and vocal music.

Hindemith Ave courtesy of Paul Hindsmith (1895- 1963) a German composer born in Hanoa. His early works reveals a trend towards neoclascism.

Mendelssohn Avenue named after Mr Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847), a German composer who achieved eminence also as a pianist and organist. His compositions consisted of symphonies, operas, oratorios and church music.

Offenbach Avenue named after Jacques Offenbach (1819-1889). A German- French composer, born at Cologne who created a type of light burlesque comic opera known as the 'operette'.



  
Weber Street named after Carl Maria von Weber a German composer (1786-1826). He was the founder of the German romantic opera. His works are a skillful blend of fantasy, humour and drama.
