"Happy Diwali" To Our Indian Subcontinent Community Members Of Original Nationality!

We have discussed in the past how all Australians are not the true original Australians, unless you are from Australian Aboriginal origin.

As a former Catholic Parish Priest of Holy Family, Emerton ( former Blacktown  Resident of the year) Father Paul Hanna had always been saying to us, "That we all make up a cloth patchwork, and that cloth patchwork means we all come from different origins from all around the world. Sometimes, I even think in Australia, we are the world. In Mount Druitt, we are so much a multicultural community that we need to respect each other so much and enjoy each other cultures.

People living with us in our community, come from: Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, European countries,  Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Japan, Mauritius, and so on. These are the people of origin I have met in Mount Druitt over the last 25 years.

So today, being 'Diwali Day', we wish our community people originally from the Indian subcontinent 'A Happy Diwali'!

May there be plenty of lights in your life and lives of all Australians!

Meaning of Diwali (Wikipedia):

Image result for diwali 2015Diwali (or Deepavali, the "festival of lights") is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) or spring (southern hemisphere) every year.[3][4] Diwali is one of the largest and brightest festivals in India. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of good over evil.[5][6][7] The preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November.
