Mount Druitt's Transitiomal Population - The Area Is Made By The People Who Live In It....!

Mount Druitt is an expanding residential suburban hub of population, that in time has changed the foundation of its original communities.

Prior to 'White English People', taking over and dominating the land from the native traditional people, the land was untouched by any constructed houses, dwellings and buildings, in its primitive days.  In times of past, Mount Druitt would have been a thriving rural community, until the doors opened for smaller lots of land being offered to the general public. Also affordable housing has been and is still offered to lower income earners: people that cannot afford to purchase properties or even afford to pay rent, available from the NSW Housing or former NSW Department of Housing or NSW Housing Commission.

For many years there were more NSW Housing tenants then private property house owners, although, the pendulum has been recently swinging towards more private property property house owners. This brings a situation where  private property rate payers have been subsidising low income earners in relation for paying for Blacktown City Council Services, in the past.

This statement is made on the basis of not being prejudicial against low income earners. Yes, I believe there are the people that not only need, require low cost housing, to assist them in their life: old age pensioners, single unmarried mothers with no family support, former inmates of jails trying to start a new life and refugees from other countries that cannot speak English, bring their families and want to start a new life in a country that isn't war-torn.

Pubic schools have been introduced in the area as suburbs were being created. This is one area of Mount Druitt that has an abundance of that caters for the primary and secondary education. In the last 15-20 years, more children are completing Secondary High School Certificate, as more private schools have been introduced into the area as well as well as Special Needs School. The growing children, becoming adults now understand how important having an education is, compared to decades where completing this level of education was not  important.

*In 1996 the Daily Telegraph reported on Mount Druitt Higher School Certificate Class of 96, how they failed the HSC. The Daily Telegraph later apologised to the Mount High School students in 2009.

What this did was bring in stake holders, think tankers of NSW Education , State Members to come with the idea of holding university- style campus for  the public school high school students of Mount Druitt district. Whalan High school was closed Campuses were set up on North Parade, Mount Druitt, Shalvey High School complex and Mount Druitt High School complex. A better result for the community. This has been called, 'Chifley Campus'!

To complete Tertiary Education in Mount Druitt there is Mount Druitt TAFE and also the University of Western Sydney, based in various places in Western Sydney: Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, Hawkesbury, Campbelltown and Bankstown.

The fruits of these Educational Institutions are now producing our current youth initiatives to strive for a career that they can so deservedly be proud of earning their own income, not relying on any Australian government assistance (Excess the 'HEX' program: which students payback when they commence full time work). I am so proud of the Mount Druitt youth as I see in the future, qualified doctors, scientists, chemists, lawyers and other professional qualified occupations that these children will be. They will show how they would be fantastic products of the current educational system: public or private.

Although Mount Druitt has been an area where high young teen pregnancies and births occurs, there is another change in the community by these young ladies, for this to occur later on in their life (not to late). Again this could the way parents are educating their children of future parenthood and also the education system that is in Mount Druitt.

There is a trend for the young to have partners and a family, there is obviously no rule for when a young family should have a child. Each young lady will determine their own happiness in bearing a child and also know when they are ready. Families of daughters having their first child should be supportive to them, especially when asked and needed. To these young ladies, not known to them is the kind of immediate support from their parents or carers that will be provided.

One thing that Mount Druitt relies on is just not the migration of new inhabitants living in the area coming from outside the area (even overseas), to increase our population. It relies on our young to provide population growth, so the tradition lives on. We live in a lucky country and we always want our children to live in our lucky country, beautiful State of NSW and in our proud Mount Druitt area. The area is made by the people living in it and also by the people who love and support the area!

If Mount Druitt was built on fame and fortune in the past, are fame and fortune are within the people that have made 'Mount Druitt' what it is today and also the of today that are making Mount Druitt what it will be in the future.s from now.

A lot of people in Mount Druitt do not want to forecast plans for 20 to 30 years time as they are thinking of today, tomorrow, a year from now and two to three year. The immediate future is important and then  the 20 to 30 forecasted plans are then important.

In recent years, with the forward planning of Blacktown City Council's Public Transport Forum and the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan I  have come to a realisation that as we  plan for 20 to 30 years time, we are planning for today, tomorrow and the immediate future. This is where that as time passes, population increases, little or no  housing developments, there will be a critical housing issue if it is not attended too. Where there is current low density housing property, these areas could be changed to median density population and median density housing to high density housing. The good thing about this it doesn't take use extra land use outside multiple low density properties.

As each day passes, there is changes happening within the Mount Druitt community that can range from population increases from natural births or new migration into the area from other areas of Western Sydney, Sydney, Australia and even overseas.

The more congested the population is with Blacktown  Local Government Area, the less council can look forward to maintaining and providing improvements in planning for better roads, cycle ways/lanes, shared cycle ways, road links, covering public transport corridors, reaching major shopping hubs and shopping communities, lighting, amenities at parks and gardens, address the cleaning up of communities waste disposal, catering for the future communities festivaties and other community Council related services.

This demonstrates that Mount Druitt-Rooty Hill area could easily be self-governed as Local Government Area, within its own right! The obvious positive aspect is more localised Councillors would be more in touch with their more localised communities. Also the same with the local communities will be more in touch with their local Councillors. This produces more efficiency in all aspects of  a local government area providing high quality services to the community. The area would have a justified high profile as well as  other Hubs: Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, Liverpool and Castle Hill.

The downside would be less Council Rates to collect on in monetary terms/values but then the Budget of the Mount Druitt-Rooty Hill Council would be substantially less than the entire current Blacktown City Council. There would be arguments for and against. Our current chewing gum Mayor, lives in Doonside would be against that yet his Colleagues in Ward 5 would hopefully support it!
