A belated Happy Diwali to all Hindu/Indian community members for yesterday's Diwali Festival. Also known as 'Deepawali', it is a traditional 'Festival of Lights' - where houses inside and outside are blessed with small clay bowls, the smallest of candle holders, lit up so brightly lit up: with waxed candles or using ghee (purified butter) and cotton.
Prayers are made to the Goddess ' Lakshmi' of wealth and prosperity. Hindus/Indians get dressed up in new clothes or their best outfit and there is a lot of preparing, cooking and giving to other family and friends of traditional sweets 'mithai'.
Happy Diwali!
