Well, you all know myself by now, I am don't give up easily!
At first, he said the ticketing bands are done based on,'As the
Crow Flies' - that is, the shortest possible distance. After a few minutes of checking, he got back to myself, on the phone and politely said, 'I've done my calculations and it measures to be
17.9km below the 20 Kilometer distances Band. With such greatness and joy, we got a representative to agree to my previous blogs (a lesser distance): Click here for previous proof of distance of fare banding for Mount Druitt and Parramatta train station commuters
This was not to corner him, there was no intention of that. This gentleman was quite intelligent and explained how he calculated this wonderful result. This is how he described it:
- Go to Google Maps - Get directions
- Type in Parramatta Station NSW
- Type in Mount Druitt Station NSW
- Go to get directions and enter
- Scroll down - click on distance measurement
- Save changes
- Zoom into Parramatta Station and drag to Mount Druitt Station and it shows 17.9 km
Well using Google Measurement and calculate distance link I got the same answer as Ron got. So here it i maps Google Maps and Sydney Trains Stations measurements get in right and Opal hasn't got it right yet. Both Mount Druitt and Parramatta commuters have been overcharged for fare bands and should rightly be on the lower band, since their individual use of Opal Cards!
Google Maps Mount Druitt to Parramatta d Distance 17.9kms |
We can procrastinate, research and review as much as what we want to do as it's issues of calculating fare bands may go back the early railways history. This is not important!
To provide a financial reward to both commuters of Mount Druitt and Parramatta, can be backdated. I am looking at the future and if Opal and NSW for Transport place these commuters into the lower fare band - that is after all, is what is needed! Anything after is a bonus!
Ron, the Opal Customer Care should be rewarded for his upfront frankness and care of commuters. He suggested it will be referred to his team leader and then straight to Management, once the team leader approves it. I expressed not to refer to the Independent outside Media Company as they do nothing, and have done nothing. They probably get paid $200-$500,00 for doing nothing from Opal. What a big job they did was be a coverup for NSW for Transport Media. Other words they couldn't handle it!
So far, this issue has been treated as low priority from the Opal Care Media as when I was told to contact NSW for Transport Media - they said they have it and it was up to me to make further inquiries to NSW for Transport Media, although the Independent Outside media had referred to them already!
So we now need results from Opal from here on.
