Here Is A First For Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs.... Free Flu Shots

Yes, it is true there are free flu shots offered by a new Medical Centre, which is based at Marsden Park. I think is a great idea and think that other Medical Centres within Mount Druitt, should offer the same.

Just like you, I am shaking my head, why 'Marsden Park'? As I thought about it, it is  a surrounding suburb around Mount Druitt. The question goes how far does surrounding go - as far as we claims is surrounding or on the outer surround of Mount Druitt.

The young lady handing out the flyer for the 'Ourmedicalhome, Marsden Park', was actually from Rooty Hill and said, "she will take her flu shots there".

Youths of Mount Druitt ' What Makes You Smile About Where You Live?" Survey - Meca Mount Druitt

Well, occasionally we have initiatives being thought of that will try to assist our youth in our area.  Each one is to try to keep our youths  minds occupied, off the streets  lurking around, to  seeing a bright future, take appropriate studies, so that you get jobs that  keep them motivated.

Meca Mount Druitt's Profile Photo, No automatic alt text available.
So now Meca Mount Druitt, always helping people from different backgrounds, is   now trying to make our youths think about  positive things of our community. I support this survey 100% . Spread this around to all the youths in our area to complete.

It’s time to challenge the negative stereotypes of young people in Western Sydney.

We want to know what young people love about the West so we can highlight positive stories. We're running a quick survey asking young people: "What makes you smile about where you live?"

The responses will be published in a report and sent to every politician in Western Sydney. We'll also create a local mural as a physical reminder of the importance of young people’s opinions.

Hail Storms Ravage Mount Druitt And Surrounding Suburbs - 'whyilovemountdruitt Face Book Group'

Oblivious to storms occurring whilst I work inside office, it appears that storms that ravaged our area, have chopped down trees in had fallen across pathways, roads, parks and houses.

At Mount Druitt Train Station, Sydney trains Officers were dealing with a southerly blast of hail  about a size of a 10 cents piece/ marble and rain, hitting from The Avenue and causing  flooding at the Mount Druitt  vestibule area and Train Station Office. As well between 3.30-4.30pm, 3 lifts at Mount Druitt Train were stuck with commuters unable to get out for about 10 minutes.  Whilst this occurred Emergency Services Crew were dealing with a commuter having a seizure, on one of the platform.

We understand that Mount Druitt doesn't have enough commuters to have a paramedic, like Parramatta and Blacktown Trains Stations. Probably some thing our local State Member for Mount Druitt, Hon Edmond Atalla, could follow up, for us on NSW Parliament.

The lights heading to the bus interchange and escalators on the northern side were out to night, including all lifts, except the Mount Druitt Commuter Car Park lifts.

Currently lifts are out of service until maintenance can be conducted, until further notice, as per phots above.

I believe that all the storm and  hail stretched through to Kingswood/ Penrith.

In Mount Druitt Town Square, no major damage can be seen at night, except a slight puddle and mud to go with it, which can be cleaned and swept up

At  Shennan Walkway in Mount Druitt, fallen tree on the top of the Walkway. Hopefully no one got hurt. Also around the area Energy Australia were seen actively fixing up light poles, as seen here on the right.

From 'whyilovemountdruitt' Face Book Group, Ron has provided photos, on what has happened in his block of houses, included is a photo from RAAF Memorial Park:

'Drop Waste Rate' Must Go Done To Zero, Especially For Our Community To Be Clean

One of the things that I detest and I'm sure that others in our wonderful community do as well, is how we have a heavy 'Drop Waste Rate'. Now you are probably asking the question, 'what do mean by that?'

Well, simply it is the lack of care some of us have in caring for our community and environment  by dropping our very own rubbish everywhere we can to have others pick up for us. It seems that it could be a 'generational change' or 'if there is rubbish seen around, I can add to it' attitude. How does this come about, when I'm am sure that in our very own home, our very own back yards our parents/ guardians kept them clean and told us always to be clean.

Ignorance of the 'Drop Waste Rate' is common amongst people who do it but let me ask them, if they dropped this rubbish in their very own rooms at room, how would they feel? Hopefully, their homely environment is clean and tidy. So not treat the  same to our community environment. A cleaner environment is a happier community.

The simple thing to do, is place rubbish in a bin. Is that too hard? I sometimes walk with something in my hand, until I find the nearest bin and dispose of it properly. If one person in our community per day, was to do this, each day would be a happier, healthier and  there would  be more pride of  our environment.  We need to send this message to our community, each day one person to join our reduce our 'Drop Waste Rate'.

Blacktown City Council - $3,000 Illegal Works Becomes $40,000 Fines - Media Release

MEDIA RELEASE
Description: Description: BCC Logo 2007 Ver - Coloured - Outline Text

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
16 March, 2017
$3k fine becomes $40k on appeal

A Shanes Park developer has been fined $40,000 after he appealed against a $3,000 fine issued by Blacktown City Council for the illegal construction of a pizza restaurant.Elias Soukkar was issued with a $3,000 penalty notice for the illegal construction of a pizza restaurant at 26 Stony Creek Rd, Shanes Park.

“Mr Soukkar carried out unauthorised extensions and fitout works to an existing building and intended to use it as either a restaurant or a general convenience store,” said the Mayor of Blacktown City, Stephen Bali. “Not only were the works unauthorised, but the zoning for the land does not allow that kind of use. “Our Council Officers made this very clear to him and, despite letters and verbal warnings, he went ahead with what he says was some $400,000 worth of construction and fitout works,” Mayor Bali said.

Council then issued him with a $3,000 penalty notice, which he chose to appeal and have the matter heard at Blacktown Local Court. “The magistrate found that the structure should not have been built and that a strong warning should be sent to make sure proper approvals are sought and complied with,” Mayor Bali said.

Mr Soukkar represented himself in Blacktown Local Court and was fined $40,000.
“People thinking about undertaking illegal works without permission should take this as a clear warning the courts take a very dim view of people who don’t obey the law,” Mayor Bali said.

Blacktown City Council - Club Grants - Media Release

MEDIA RELEASE
Description: Description: BCC Logo 2007 Ver - Coloured - Outline Text

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
16 March 2017
Council launches ClubGRANTS 2017

Care packages for foster children and transportation for an Indigenous choir are two of the local projects funded by last year’s Blacktown City ClubGRANTS scheme.
Applications for the this year’s Blacktown City ClubGRANTS scheme open on 3 April and close on 3 May.
Mayor of Blacktown City Stephen Bali encourages all local non-profit community organisations to apply.
“Since its inception 16 years ago, Blacktown City ClubGRANTS has funded 810 projects worth more than $8.5 million,” said Mayor Bali.
“That’s an average of just under $10,500 per group – making it a very useful boost to fund projects and support services,” he said.
“In the past, the grants have paid for projects such as care packages for foster children, transportation costs for an Indigenous choir and books for local primary school students.
“The capacity to fund so many projects that make a positive impact on our community illustrates the importance of the scheme.”
Foster Care Angels President Kelly Doyle from Kings Langley said the organisation successfully applied for $7,400 in the 2016 ClubGRANTS round.
“With that money we were able to make and distribute 150 care packages for foster children across Blacktown City,” she said.
“These care packages provide the kids great comfort at what is probably a traumatic time in their lives.”
Mt Druitt Indigenous Choir used the $25,000 grant it received last year to pay for buses to take children to choral performances across NSW.
“The financial support we’ve received has been massive,” President Dave Armstrong said.
“It’s taken the pressure off a lot of the fundraising we usually have to do so we can focus on our core value of helping local families.
“I encourage other groups to give ClubGRANTS a go, especially if you are doing things in the community that really benefit people and give back to the community.”
For more information about Blacktown City ClubGRANTS and to apply visit
