This interactive information session facilitated by the Council of the Ageing (COTA) peer educators explore the possibilities/advantages of staying well as you age, your options for increasing wellbeing, getting community and aged care services on board to assist you and how this can improve local and community services for everyone.

Band of All Ages is an intergenerational and cross cultural project lead by Linda Marr that engages singers, dancers and musicians of all ages.  Bring your instruments, musical skills, existing compositions and understanding of musical genres to the collaborative space to explore and share your expertise.

Clean Up Australia Day 2017
Participate in Australia's largest community-based environmental event.

Clean Up Australia Day is your opportunity to gather your family, neighbours, and friends to help clean up your local environment.

Clean Up Australia Day is the nations the largest community-based environmental event. Over the last 25 years volunteers have donated 27.2 million hours towards caring for the environment by removing an estimated 288,650 tonnes of rubbish from 145,754 sites across the country.

Last year over 800 volunteers from across Blacktown City collected 9 tonnes of waste from 41 registered sites. More than 9,500 students from 40 schools also participated.

You can register now to create a new clean-up site near you. Or join an existing cleanup site near you. Visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au to sign-up.

Blacktown City Council have proudly supported Clean Up Australia Day events since it first started 26 years ago, and we encourage individuals, families, community groups, and schools to get involved this year.

1 Million Trees – Community planting event
9.00am – 12.00 noon
Residents, community groups and businesses are invited to join Council in planting locally native trees, shrubs and grasses at our next community planting event. This planting will increase biodiversity and encourage native birds back into the Bells Creek Corridor.

Council will provide all plants, materials and refreshments.  For safety reasons, participants must wear closed in shoes, and are encouraged to wear a hat, long pants and a long sleeved shirt. Planting is suitable for all ages, so come along, and bring your family and friends. This project is delivered as part of the 1 million trees – Cumberland Stepping Stones Program and will enhance local amenity.

Seven Hills: Sustainability Hub working bee

Looking to get involved in a community project that will make a difference?

We are creating a showcase sustainability education centre in Seven Hills and need your help. The last Sunday of every month we hold a working bee at the Sustainability Hub where we undertake a range of jobs to help bring our vision to life. Be part of this great project.
Jobs vary each month and could include help with planting and watering, weeding and mulching, compost-turning, coop-cleaning, general site maintenance. Over the coming months we will also be planning and constructing new feature areas including a food forest, and composting workshop space.
