Mount Druitt Police Station Opens - News Local - But Missing 'Olivia' In Attendance....

People that are forgotten are  not well recognised, sometimes.

What do I mean, simply that the former opposition Liberal candidate Olivia Skadiang (formerly Lloyd), had fought hard with the then Premier of NSW, Michael Baird to  request an upgrade of Mount Druitt Police Station. I believe the press release she had wasn't received very well or at all. Yet to get a NSW premier to agree to an upgrade of a Police Station, in a Labor area was unheard of, especially to me. I see she wasn't invited to the this opening event.....

I actually couldn't believe it how Olivia had got this for the our area. I notice in the press release fro m News Local - there is no mention of NSW State Member of Mount Druitt, Hon. Edmond Atalla's attendance at event. Knowing him, he would have been there as he was advocating for the upgrade prior to his election into NSW State Parliament.

I am pleased to partner with Blacktown Area Community Centres and their Paint Mt Druitt REaD program and host a mobile library in my office. Paint Mt Druitt REaD is an early literacy program aimed at improving outcomes for children from birth to 5 years old.  By reading, singing and rhyming, looking and listening, talking and drawing and writing with a child every day from birth we can improve a child’s outcome.

Rooby Roo, the reading kangaroo, dropped by my office with one of her helpers and donated some great books. Now when you visit my office, children can read a book while they are waiting or can take a book home, return it and swap it for another one. Interested in donating books or getting more information? Another Win For Our Mount Druitt And Surrounding Community - No Incinerator In Our Back Yard -

I know what it is like to advocate for the community with strong voices and somes  you have your ups and downs - will you get the support from within our  local community? The support came from within  our community. The one voice that deserves the rewards of being a tirelessly volunteer advocate goes to Kerri Bradbury. She will take on swimming pool clossures to have them remain open for the public.  She will take on  Corporate Companies that want to dirty our back yard with smoke and soot. On both occassions she has won for and on behalf of our community. We will have a cleaner and easier lifestyle as we breath in with every breath and realise that ' the clean air' group otherwise known as the 'No to the incinerator' group has won over big corporate companies and  NSW Government. I take off my hat (or in my case cap) to Kerri as she kept our community updated with protest meetings, nsw government reports and decisions. We also thank Blacktown City Council and Mayor Stepher Bali, councillors and Hon State Member for Mount Druitt Edmond Atalla for opposing this incinerator.

Kerri Bradbury
If you haven’t already heard, the Incinerator proposed for Eastern Creek has been refused by the Independent Planning Commission. This is such good news.
There will be a community photo taken outside Dial a Dump this morning at 11.30am sharp. This will be in the Blacktown Advocate this week.

Foundations Are Being Laid For Mount Druitt Police Station Upgrade

Mount Druitt Police Station is getting it's much needed upgrade. It was an initiative from the Opposition Candidate from Mount Druitt, in the 2015 State Election, Olivia Lloyd. This was sought as an election promise from Olivia, she personally lobbied for and obtained directly from the Liberal Premier of the day, Mike Baird.
Click here for Daily Telegraph's article on Mount Druitt Police Station details

This also has probably been started up by previous State Member for Mount Druitt, Richard Amery and recently by the current member of Mount Druitt, Hon. Edmond Atalla.
Click here for previous post on Member of Mount Druitt chasing this in his current term of government

Mount Druitt's Police Station modern upgrade is required in our area because of  a lot of new medium density housing being built within the hub of Mount Druitt. Included as reason is the trend of rising populations growth as previously mentioned, in the past and currently.
Click here for last post on population growth.

We all live in our community world that is growing day by day. If our population changes and the surrounding infrastructure/essential services doesn't meet or catch up to population changes, then some major decisions have to made to  keep everything at pace with population growth.
We congratulate 2015 NSW Mount Druitt, Liberal Candidate, Olivia Lloyd, Hon. Edmond Atalla, State Member for Mount Druitt, Former NSW Premier Michael Baird and any other person that put a good word or followed through with this community improvement.

Let's face it, we can't fall behind the times, in our most important area with anything. Thank you  for the NSW Government for getting things done, especially for Mount Druitt Police Station.

The Mount Druitt Gazette - 2nd Isuue - Member for Mount Druitt - Edmond Atalla

Welcome to the latest edition of the Mount Druitt Gazette! This online newspaper will serve to provide community and Parliamentary updates, for the benefit and information of our locals.

Residents Threatened By Toxic Waste Facility

Recently in Parliament, I made a Private Member's Statement regarding the 'Energy From Waste' Incinerator facility proposed for Eastern Creek. I had attempted to speak prior on the 12,000 signature petition however was evicted from the Chamber for voicing my concerns about this development.

I have rallied against this incinerator from my time as a Councillor in 2013, and cannot believe that this developer was given three chances by the Government to meet the Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] standard. This application should have been refused 5 years ago, and I question why this Liberal-National Government is bending over backwards to enable this developer to get the application approved?

My concerns with this proposal relate to the following;
  • Health impacts on the local community
  • The close proximity to residential homes and schools
  • Environmental pollution and diminishing air quality
Enough is enough, the Western Sydney community has stood loud and proud against this disastrous proposal, and I am happy to stand with them.

I thank the 'No Incinerator For Western Sydney' group for collecting these 12,000 signatures in such a short period of time. I thank you for your efforts and I promise to keep fighting against this toxic proposal, which is supported by a toxic government.

New Dialysis Centre Opens at Mt Druitt Hospital

Residents of Mount Druitt and surrounding communities can now enjoy easier access to medical treatment, after the Dialysis Centre was opened at the hospital. Patients will no longer have to travel long distances to receive this much needed treatment. The new 12 chair dialysis centre has the capacity to cater for 48 patients a week who need kidney dialysis. Following extensive lobbying of the NSW Government by myself and community members to reinstate and expand the services at Mt Druitt Hospital, it is pleasing to finally see some progress for the Western Sydney community. With the predicted growth of the area, medical treatment and services must be a priority for the NSW Government.

So far together, we have successfully achieved;
- Reinstatement of emergency surgery
- A refurbished digital operating centre
- Expanded Mount Druitt's emergency department
- A new recovery area, including peri-operative support
- The installation of an MRI Machine

I will continue to stand and fight for our community, and demand that my constituents are afforded the same treatment as the rest of NSW. We must continue to come together until Mount Druitt hospital is restored into a fully functioning hospital.
