Blacktown City Council’s Kids Early Learning has banded together to help seriously ill children and their families.
KEL staff attended a movie party at Council’s civic centre on 29 September, with all money raised going to the Starlight Children’s Foundation (Starlight).
“The money raised will help grant Starlight Wishes, which are a dream come true for a seriously ill child or young person, giving them and their families something positive to look forward to during treatment,” Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Stephen Bali said.
“We chose Starlight because we believe no child should have to suffer.
“What an amazing feeling to know that we have helped to put a smile on a child’s face, giving them an opportunity to look forward to something positive at what can often be an incredibly tough, scary time.”
The KEL movie night was held during Starlight Movie Month, an annual charity event which encourages workmates, family and friends to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families by hosting a movie night.
KEL staff watched The Longest Ride, and enjoyed a pizza dinner, movie trivia and a raffle
Mayor Bali said KEL will be supporting this charity for many years to come, including hosting bigger events.
