Discussion On Whether Blacktown City Council Ward Numbers Change To Names

Whilst changing name of Blacktown City Council was not populous and a waste of money to Blacktown City Council, there are other changes to Council that could occur that could end up to be more significant  to the community, when looking at future Blacktown City Council elections.

Blacktown City Council currently has numbered Council  Wards for years.

Do people know in there own community what their numbered Ward is? Maybe, the answer is, 'Yes', if you have voting for years or  you read local newspapers or even understand what is  happening on social media locally.

Do we always remember 'numbers' compared to 'names'? If our families were name after numbers that what be odd. If our friends were named after numbers that would also be odd. If our streets were named after numbers then that will be odd. If all of our suburbs, towns and  cities be named  after numbers that will most definitely  and extremely be odd. With Blacktown City Council, if it was changed to a named number Council, that would not be appropriate or proper.

So, when we have numbered Wards on Council, why don't we  look and discuss the viability  to change the number of the Ward to a name. A name that are significantly historical, which reference to its local history and background.

Names chosen could  famous  personalities from the area and aboriginal names reflecting to the ward district.  Having a proper named ward brings such a positive sense of identity and satisfaction, a sense of pride.  This is especially if you  know where the historical name of  the named Ward, was derived from.

If ever  we are looking  for a name change in Council wards, that we seek the advice from the local historical societies, so they  may have any input and say.
