So, here we have a genius of an idea to prevent potential accidents, death at Mount Druitt Bus Interchnage. This may seem like it will restrict commuters getting into buses -- yet commuters line up for buses anyway. This could be an idea that overhauls all NSW bus Interchanges design and would it be great that the innitial idea came from a 'whyilovemountdruitt' Face Book Page Post?
What is also great is that Lester from the Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group will take this on board the group, local state member and NSW Minister of Transport.
Here it is from Ron from Whalan with comments:
Ron Vorbach
This
is just a mock up of a modification I would like to see happen to our
bus inter change. The intention is to stop run away shopping carts or
baby strollers accidentally rolling in front of buses.Railing only
covering the parts that would not block access to boarding the buses .
Railing placed on existing posts. This still leaves a buffer zone
between the bus and the rails in case of any unseen event. Only requires
6 railing bars and fittings to each bus bay, thus minimizing the costs
to implement.. Safety to all 100%.
Lester Pasley This is a good idea Ron. Do you mind if I write to Edmond Atalla and let him know? He can raise it with Transport for NSW as the owner of the interchange.

Ron Vorbach You
are very welcomed. Any thing that can prevent any one being hurt in any
way is top priority in my book. Just the other day we saw a runaway
trolley hit up against a bus , Lucky no one was in the way and nothing
was damaged . Had it got bounced by the bus and hit a child or some one ,
 need I say more.
Ronald Bright it
would be far better if the shopping trolleys were not taken away from
the shopping precinct to start with. People who use these trolleys have
no respect for others in the community who have to weave their way
around these in public areas as well as the safety aspect where the can
interfere with both pedestrian and vehicle access
Ron Vorbach I
agree, but in the shorter term we need the above. Same logic applies of
how people elect to use garbage bins provided or not at all sadly.
Jean-Francois Svoboda Security Guards do not run after runaway trolleys but great idea to the two 'Ronnies'!
