Rooty Hill Will Be Wanderers Home - Blacktown Sun

It appears that  there is a major sporting win for Rooty Hill, which will save a positive outcome for all community members inclusive of all Western Sydney suburbs. This will also a positive economical affect into Rooty Hill /Mount Druitt economy.

I applaud the efforts placed  in  making Rooty Hill home for the wanders, refer to article Blacktown Sun:

Western Sydney Wanderers to make Blacktown home

THE Western Sydney Wanderers have been given the green light to make Blacktown International Sportspark their headquarters.
Blacktown Council has given the go-ahead for the new multi-million-dollar facility which will include a state of the art training centre, youth academy and clubhouse.

Mayor Stephen Bali said the in-principle agreement with the Wanderers was a win-win for the community.

"It's huge," he said.

"We're moving from being the spiritual home of the Wanderers to becoming the long-term headquarters for the club. Since the club started they've wandered — excuse the pun — from field to field but they'll now have a permanent home in Blacktown."

The project has been in the works since the Wanderers formed and Cr Bali said having a team from a national competition based at Blacktown International Sportspark was a big boost for the venue.
"We had international-standard softball and baseball as well as the ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up matches," he said.

"Now you can add football to the list. I want it to be an elite sporting facility and something athletes in all sports can aspire to."
He said the partnership between the Wanderers and the council would bring huge benefit to western Sydney, especially as a pathway for children.

"It's a great win for residents and athletes," he said.

"Given the Wanderers won the Asian Champions League and Australia won the Asian Cup, we've got the double.

"Three players in that Australian team were Blacktown oriented. It shows the area's importance. We can incubate future stars."
