Further Concerns For Pedestrians on Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt - Pedestrian Phase walkway!

View from end of Western Phase walkway
We have discussed on numerous blogs, the issues concerning the  non-phase walkway on the western side of the traffic lights on Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt and the hazards caused for not having one for many years.

Not to mentioned by stakeholders  take time in making the right decision, more community residents may be fined by the NSW police for 'Jay Walking'!

So another reason why the new phase walkway should be given the 'Go Ahead and Thumps Up' is relation to the Western part of the traffic lights, there is no sensibly planned straight walk way heading from or to the corner of Luxford Road North to the entrance of Westfield, Mount Druitt. Guess what there is...just bushes - no public pathway. So  if a community member walks to and from Shennan Walkway west along Luxford Road, crosses the western phase walkway - they cannot go straight, they need to walk across the Eastern phase walkway and then head south to Westfield Mount Druitt. This is ridiculous, waste of time for pedestrians.

Westfield Mount Druitt could look at accommodating community pedestrians by making a straight walk way where the bushes are  to there north entrance - the bushes could be moved! Another quick, easy and economical way is to implement the phase walk way on the eastern side of the  traffic lights, Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt north entrance to Westfield Mount Druitt!

We will let all stake holders weigh this in as they make their decision to improve the North Mount Druitt community.

When the shopping centre was upgrades over 16 years ago I conplained there was no direct walkway for people with prams from luxford Rd to the shopping centre and the pedistian crossing is never used as you need to cross twice, once across luxford rd and then the driveway to the shopping centre, this was pointed out when first installed , how many people have had near misses over the years.
