Public Transport Mount Druitt - St Marys Standard Wants Your Answers!

Facebook  provides instant news from our local newspapers and most of the time, they do ask for community responses, so they complete their story for the 'hard copy' editions!

Public transport in and around Mount Druitt is always a very hot topical subject in my unfinished book. Here is what the Mount Druitt- Standard is asking for local community members:

What is your experience with public transport? Are we well catered for? Are there things that need improving?

Jean-Francois Svoboda I have a community website which discusses about public transport and the infrastructure required to ensure both bus, trains and taxis are well available for the community. Blacktown City Council has recently passed a bus to loop into Mount Hospital looping into an existing bus . There has been over 3,000 petitions collected by the Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group Inc. submitted to Council. We still haven't received full return 755 bus service looping to Shalvey, Plumpton, Dean Park and Blacktown from Mount Druitt. The current general feeling with trains is well timed bus train services in peak times, with Opal being launched quicker times for commuters getting to and from stations - no complaints there. The main concern is an larger train station, to cater for commuter traffic past barriers, up and down stairs! Also the bus interchange needs to accommodate for the growing amount of buses using this overcrowded area. We also require more legal Cycle paths in Mount Druitt - all in below blogspot:inhttp://whyilovemountdruitt.blogspot.com.au/

Michaela Alvares People coming home late after a long day at work should feel safe going to their car after getting off an hour long journey by train instead of having to fear the intoxicated and high loiterers at the base of the stairs or ramps. Referring to St Marys Station.

Arienne Maclean I think it's great! I'm happy there is a bus from Tregear to Penrith Station.

Matthew Hurn Buses that actually meet the trains would be a great start Good example week nights, the 6.26pmexpress train from wynyard arrives into Mt Druitt at 7.18pm and then 755 bus departs Mt Druitt at 7.19pm, you have no chance of making it then your waiting till 7.38pm for the 758 if your lucky to be able to catch that or 7.49pm for the next 755.

Absolutely stupid

Naomi Logue Good to see things haven't improved in the 5 years I've not had to commute to the City

Yvonne Simunovic I agree trains don't match buses and the wait is long later in the night.

Rhiannon Hart More services in chestnut cres in bidwill on weekends would be good as there is none on Sunday's and only between 9-4 every hour on Saturday and there are people who are stranded as can't walk to luxford rd for bus

Jenny Roberts More buses every 10 minutes & trains instead of if you miss a train or bus you usually have about 30 minutes to wait

Jawad Nawaz So old pic u have admin, all these benches are replaced with new fancy ones. Yeah same station using for last 4 years for going to work

Jeff Burnell I use it now and again, no problems at all

Melissa Goodwin Would be nice if the buses turn up on time. Actually turning up at all would nice. 3 times in the last 2 weeks my bus has not turned up at all.

Kevin Vella Rooty Hill train station need lifts

Benisbórg Hámón-Hajar We desperately need lifts at Doonside, the stairs disenfranchises parents and people with disabilities from catching public transport. This is hugely unfair.

Re Ann Matthews anyone who things we are well catered for needs to visit Melbourne and see their public transport network, we have nothing once you have seen theirs

Mahni De-Roo Parking complex at Rooty Hill

Kym Menere Rooty hill needs lifts

Bridgette Hanlon Doonside station needs alot of things done lifts etc,

Sue Patton Never had a pronlem although sometimes the buses are a hit and miss and some more express trains ftom Penrith stopping at mt druitt would be nice and maybe extending to Berowra

Zainuba Zee Ali Yes more trains during peek hour. That's all I want . oh and lifts at rooty hill station

Susy Vlahovic Just take a train/metro/subway in literally any other city in the world (even in countries much poorer than ours) & you will see that Sydney's is by far the worst. The opal card has made things slightly easier but every other country has had this type of card for many years. Sydney is so backwards!!!

Kelly Kel Kelz Extra seats at the train station

Jai Dunmore hate it !!

Felicity Mclean A lift at Rooty Hill station. It's not always possible for the elderly and/ or disabled to get to Mt Druitt. Try getting on a bus if you are in a wheelchair or on a walker even if you have someone to assist you, can't be done!

Faye Galbraith The lack of air conditioning (750 bus) on really hot days is a disgrace. As is the driving sometimes, slamming the brakes on so hard that everyone slams into the seat in front seems to be a regular occurence.

Nate Nelson the drivers need to not allow drunk or abusive people on the bus, they are starting to put their foot down on the issue. they have a duty of care to protect us from that abuse. would be good if the pub had their own drunk bus too, so we don't have to put up with them from Mt druitt bus interchange

Vickie Robinson Trains are great! Wish people wouldn't put their feet on the seat

Pauline Vanderwolf Too cold on most trains both summer and winter. For most of the time I am pleased with the trains. Great staff at St Marys and Central.

Daniel Griffin I catch maybe one train a year which is always on time. My wife catches almost everyday and complains their always late, no seats, aircon don't work and that's about it

Janice Leonie Locke Use the 9:10 from Werrington to city for outings. Plenty of parking and in the city by 9:50.

Janice Leonie Locke Lifts at Doonside.

Carmel Crebbin I really think it's very good

Bryon James Brillantes Extend the southwest railway link to mount Druitt or st Mary's

Pete James I have no idea I don't use public transport to many ferrels

Anthony Herring Still looks the same place when i lived there

Matthew Hill Mt Druitt station experiences overcrowding issues between 5pm and 6pm. Go see it for yourself.

Tania N Vena Patuki There needs to be a bus stop on rooty hill rd nrth just past the woodstock lights

Geoff Clark All stations must have disabled access

Roy Connolly Overcrowding , air conditioning not working , people using carriages as portable toilets , loud music blasting from earphones ,

Wayne Fellowes dont use it waste of time turn the tracks into a drag strip

Luke Mardon We can cry as much as we want about the train service but the reality is that there are only so many trains and every one wants more services. The government won't pay for anymore trains. The new waratah trains are leased edi owns them and have a contract to keep them in service for the next 30 years. So in 30 years time we will still be paying for these trains. but hey they are fixing the trains

Shonna Seymour-Nouwland Doonside needs lifts...also bus and train to come on time not when the other bus and trains are ment to come 30 minutes later

Ann-Marie Fletchy Needs a frequent bus to the hospital

Christine Harrison would be great if the buses waited for the trains (and gave you time to get there) before leaving. Also if the buses ran later on Sundays

Brett Schuhmacher Parking Rangers need to patrol the car park that is between the 2 lines as people without parking permits sit and wait to pick up relatives in the disabled bays. Quite a few times whilst picking up my wheelchair bound partner I've had drive around several times as because of these people I've not been able to get a disability park
Brett Schuhmacher I've rang council twice and been promised extra patrols would be put on but I've sat and watched throughout the entire peak period numerous times and not seen the Rangers once
Naomi Logue Have you given Council the times of when these occur? If it's not the Rangers it would be the Parkers that attend to this
Brett Schuhmacher Yes told them between 5 and 7 is the worst time

Nella Maree Extra patrols for safety

Shelle Pecnik More staff at stations to control the crowds of school kids and more cover

Shahid Mahmud Inafficient and rude, i miss fast train daily from blacktown, as they r not synced, one reaches other departs before anyone boards

Charmaine Dyson A bigger station as it gets busy in rush hour there could be a major problem soon since our community is growing the last thing any family needs is a death caused by a train station being to small
Luke Mardon Mt druitt station is already a long station as it can have intercity trains arrive at it. You can make it as long as you want but it won't make a difference

Greg Nouwland i refuse to use public transportation since all the things are happing around these days

Kate Kearney I certainly wouldn't ever hop on or off at Mt Druitt station lol

June Bassett Alexander More seats please !!!

Brian J William Busways need to deal with the issue of congestion of buses in peak times.
The interchange can barely cope with the amount of buses in those times.

The introduction of 4 trains an hour instead of 2 in off peak was a definite positive in the 2013 timetable upgrade.

These are so interesting that the issues are so many and wide, I sure that many stakeholders reading these comments would be already involved in doing or may even take place to start working on them.
