I think that that there are a few reasons that could be:
- Pensioners are wary of electronic new devices and don't have that trust.
- Lack of understanding how it works
- Opal Card readers on buses not working
- The process of topping up on your card, may not be understood.
- Unsure of process of applying for Opal Gold Card.
Busways and NSW for Transport should have an 'Open Day' at Mount Druitt Town Square, with a bus there, showing elderly pensioner commuters use of the Opal Gold and it's advantages! Maybe our NSW State Member for Mount Druitt could lead the way on this matter of educating the pensioners, on the Opal Gold Card.
