So with Blacktown City Council looking at renaming pending a referendum, we are not only going to show both sides of it. Asking general questions. answering them and the ones we can't find answers then we need to seek answers.
We need to know if our Blacktown City Council name is changed, what are the possible name changes it could be and will other towns/community suburbs names also change?
In NSW and Sydney, we have colorful names like Redfern, Green Valley, Greenacre, Blacksmiths, Blackheath, Whitebridge, Whitecliffs, Orange, Lavender Bay, Rose Hill, Black Creek Farm, Rose Bay and Roseville. In Blacktown Local Government Area there is Blacktown and Blackett. In Victoria there is the suburb of Blackburn, Queensland has Blackwater and Whitehaven Beach. In WA there is Whiteman Park
Overseas there is the 'White House', Washington DC in USA, 'White Cliffs of Dover', Blackrock Mountain, Alberta, Canada, Blackpool, Blackwood Town in England, Whitefield in Balangalore.
So changing the name of Blacktown City Council, to me means a complete change of names within Blacktown Local Government area which directly includes 'Blacktown' and Blackett as well. As Blackett could have a racial connotation as well Blacktown but the naming Blackett relates to George Forster Blackett.
Then you will have to change names from within NSW, Australia and the rest of the world that use a possible racial connotation of either the word 'Black' or 'White', is this just 'Black and white?'
