More Tap On/Off Opal Electronic Machines Could Have Been Installed At Rooty Hill Train Station!
It was just a thought that came up to myself as I was waiting for a train at Rooty Hill train station. I don't think everyone has got an eye moving around looking for physical improvements within our area as I may do. Yes, I am sure there are times our community members have great suggestions for community improvements and they don't know how to get their voice across on it, to test it.
Luckily there is neighbours, friends and family that could be the first point of call to to tell them. From there, local newspapers, bloggers and the community is well informed by then.
So my suggestion would ease congestion of commuter traffic at Rooty Hill train station by having another tap/off Opal card electronic machines, on the right side of the poll as per below picture:
It would be situated just in front the drainage poll is, which can be moved back a bit or the electronic machines moved forward! What do you think? The more commuters tap on/off, the more commuters get to their destination quickly.

"Underquoting Laws" For Real Estate Agents - Helps Residential Home Buyers!
One of the new laws released as from 1st January 2016 is in relation to Real Estates 'Underquoting': this will make it more understanding for buyers he that houses are selling at the reasonable estimate price that's is on the contract.

Underquoting laws start from 1 January 2016. They apply to all residential properties for sale on or after 1 January 2016.An agent is underquoting the selling price of a property if they make or publish a statement about its price that is less than their reasonable estimate of the property’s likely selling price that is contained in the agency agreement.
This is an offence under the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002 (the Act). Agents face fines of up to $22,000 for failing to comply with the law. Agents may also lose their commission and fees earned from the sale of an underquoted property. These commissions and fee payments will go towards the Property Services Compensation Fund, which supports consumers who have experienced financial loss as a result of property agent misconduct.

So Further Reports How Mount Druitt Area- Bus Region 1 - Is Behind Compared To Sydney City Bus Regions!
Where we are told by Busways that currently that are complying to 55% of accessible buses, we in NSW Bus Region 1 are behind the times compared to Bus Region 6,7,8 and 9 - All Sydney City Bus Regions.

Home Page - Quarterly Performance Information they are up to 86.9% of accessible buses for NSW Bus Regions 6,7,8 and 9.
Yet, according to Feed back from Busways they are up to 55% compliant for accessible buses in NSW Bus Region 1.
That is we are 31.9% behind the times - all NSW Bus regions , should be compliant at the same rate as others, not make others more compliant then others less fortunate! I do think someone needs to get answers for us and raise the ratio of accessible buses to an equal percentage.

Australia Day 2016 Rooty Hill Fireworks - This Is An Event That Thousands Of People Come Too! - Blacktown City Council
Yes, this is the wonderful event that the Councillors/staff prepare for us, so that all Australians enjoy our historical day. The discovery of Australia 246 years ago, by the Captain James Cook landing at Botany Bay.
Amazing how we changed our landing place from Botany Bay moving to the new settlement at Sydney Cove. Now we have population settlements all around Australia even out West of Sydney to Blacktown City and Mount Druitt Town.
So this is a day to celebrate our history as Australians, whether new or old and coming together at Rooty Hill, you will meet others and catch up briefly, enjoy the entertainment and finally the colorful fireworks that complete the Australia Day events.

If you have been to this event come again. If you haven't been to this event make it specially your first time! Bring families, friends, neighbours, let's fill up Rooty Hill with people, make it a record number of people event. Of NSW House Fires 10% Of Them Occur In NSW - Mount Druitt Fire And Rescue Face Book Site!
Rising house fires within Mount Druitt we are informed having been rising in the last year, according to Mount Druitt Fire Station as they shared Fire and Rescue NSW's note.

There were 17 accidental fire deaths and more than 4,070 home fires in NSW in 2015 making it a deadly year for home fires.

latest Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) figures show a disappointing
increase in the number of fire deaths and home fires compared to 2014
where there were only 12 accidental fire deaths and 3,946 house fires.

There were 17 accidental fire deaths and more than 4,070 home fires in NSW in 2015 making it a deadly year for home fires.
The latest Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) figures show a disappointing increase in the number of fire deaths and home fires compared to 2014 where there were only 12 accidental fire deaths and 3,946 house fires.
There was a decrease in the number of fire-related injuries from 499 in 2014 to 486 in 2015.
Tragically, it was also a particularly busy holiday period for firefighters with four home fire deaths and more than 276 home fires in December.
FRNSW Assistant Commissioner Mark Whybro said 2016 had already got off to a busy start with more than 50 home fires since midnight on New Year’s Eve.
“Every day firefighters attend home fires that could have been prevented with a few simple steps and precautions. Sadly, this includes fires where people have been killed or seriously injured,” he said.
“The weather may be warmer, but house fires still happen.
“It can take just three minutes for a fire to take hold, but only seconds to prevent one. It can be as simple as turning off electrical appliances before you go to bed, keeping a close eye on pots and pans when you’re cooking or cleaning the lint filter on the clothes dryer.
“The problem is complacency – people assume it will never happen to them. But I assure you it can. These figures speak for themselves.
“I don’t want to see another increase in home fires this year. Make sure you have a working smoke alarm and a practiced home escape plan.”
Editor's notes: It is with sadness we have to report this, yet mindful and thankful that lives have not been lost. I have been updated with posts from the Mount Druitt fire and rescue and can find it usual in understanding what is happening in the area. If mentioned, they might tell us what caused the fire. I recommend that you read their face book site!
Fire can start from electrical run devices, gas stoves, electrical storms, home show fire crackers, left over cigarettes burning and so on...
We all may want to be a little more alert of preventing any fires so that we can live longer lives in our great community and still keep a roof over our heads.

New High Gates AT Train Stations Will End Up At Mount Druitt - Are They High/Low Enough?
As you may or may not be aware due to fare evaders that don't have an Opal Card or any paper tickets and want to avoid paying Sydney Trains fares. There are many people that jump electronic gates in concourses, risking health and safety and that leaves them with their own way of having self-pride.

So to combat this Sydney Trains will be installing high gates - as per the London Underground style that is suppose to prevent barriers jumping fare evaders within Sydney Trains train stations.
This is was happens with the London High Gate barriers, which I think if they had lowered the gate to about one inch above the ground and about a foot taller then the actuall gate itself, safer, better and a big money saver. I can see problems with this high gate:

State Member Of Mount Druitt - Councillor Edmond Atalla Concerned Of Accessible Buses in Mount Druitt As Well!
This is a late published blog (which should have been published late last year), so I apologise to the community for this. Yet, for our State Member of Mount Druitt, Councillor Edmond Atalla, I have to say he is really standing up for the community and is passionately a true advocate for improving public transport around the area.
So, it is so pleasing to hear that he is taking on the issue on current accessible amount of buses within the area for peak times (and maybe all times) and seeking answers.
Please note how quick he responded to the original blog published 21st December 2015, from the copy of letter dated 22nd December 2015 (as above).
He very passionate about public transport in relation to Rooty Hill train station upgrade for lifts. He is aware of bus improvements in the area. Also he moved the motion in Blacktown City Council for a Hospital bus service and it has arrived but not in the Mount Druitt Hospital. At least it is heading in the right direction!
So for him to refer to the current Minister of Transport and take on this issue is fantastic, great for the community and shows he is leading the community in the right way in relation to local bus improvements. We will update the community as soon as we receive further feedback.

Why I Love Mount Druitt Year In Review For 2015!
Well this is the first full year that 'whyilovemountdruitt blogspot' has been active, as it was created 19th February 2014. 2014 was a slow year for visits to website as it was just a 'virgin' website getting out to the general community. 2015 proved that community members are reading, checking and providing feedback that is complimentary, positive for stalk holders and received very few criticism against some blogs.
The compliments received don't go to myself they go out to the wider Mount Druitt community. So many people that I have spoken to, so many people that provide ideas for improvements, so many people finding this Website educational for both adults and children. This website keeps the community in touch with things that they may not realise is vital in maintaining or improving, or understanding the politics within the area: Local, State and then Federal (in that order). For the local press, this is not a news website, it is an community information website that gets people interacting with each other and gets people talking about it. Any relevant comments are referred to stake holders for immediate attention.
In relation to any criticism received, it is not taken personally because I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long it is genuine and it is their belief. Yet, sometimes with criticisms, I can improve myself as I am not perfect. And I have done. I also find that with received criticism, relationship can change for better understanding. There need not be any fights or wars over criticism, points views are important and need to be told. I have released comments that provide these views, allowing the general wider community fairness in discussing issues!
So the general highlights this year on figures is astonishing: record number of published blogs for the month and year, record number of visits for month and year and also record number of comments month and year:

In summary for the year we have had candidates from both NSW State Seats of Mount Druitt and Londonderry tell us why they love Mount Druitt, phase walkway/pedestrian approved on eastern side of Luxford Road intersection entrance to Westfield approved by NSW Roads and Maritime Services, Public Transport improvements submissions passed and referred by Council.
We have had also had railings installed by Blacktown City Council, where they was previously a fall, there have been many community issues raised and resolved, community members giving us ideas for community improvements, more songs from the Blacktown City Brass Band. Also, we were updating other Mount Druitt Face Book groups with important blogs and have 'Blog of the Week' on our Face Book group!
Mount Druitt Town Rangers notified us of their clubs and matches, that they wanted us to notify the community. This is just a brief summary because there is so much to say, not enough to say in one blog. So if you haven't read these blogs search and read them. And there is more.
In the mean time we thank everyone that reads these important blogs, provides comments or even talks to myself on streets and trains, getting the messages out there!
