Mount Druitt Cops Bad Weather - Some House Destroyed And Uproots Many Gum Trees And Leaking Westfield Again!

It is with deep sadness that today, I have to report to the community that within the last 24 hours, from extreme weather changes from 41 degrees heat to sudden torrential, blisterly winds and rains had caused havoc within from Whalan through to North Mount Druitt, also parts of Rooty Hill.

After speaking to a few community members from the area there wasn't such an effect that occurred n other nearby suburbs Including St Marys, Oakhurst and Doonside. The brunt of it was effected b around west and North of Mount Druitt.

I actually witnessed a part ceiling dropping off missing the business owner of Tele Choice, outside of Woolworths at Westfield Mount Druitt. I have previously reported to the community of Westfield's leaking roofs and such far have not had any direct response from them.

Yesterday about 2.45pm, I noticed that near Radio Rentals, Westfield an elderly lady fell from dripping water from the roof there. Although local shop owners/workers were there to comfort her by providing a chair it took minutes before the cleaning squad arrived as well as a security guard who was a first aider. then mats were brought in  to soak up the dripping water and there was a mopping up crew that had been at work. then I noticed a huge pool of water in the middle of outside Woolworths Westfield, which was mostly affecting Tele Choice.
My wife who was with myself told myself to leave this area but I was reluctant as I did want to take photos to shoe the community. I said to the owner of Tele Choice, "This is not what you wanted!" as he was taking pictures of the mess. I notice there was a crack on the ceiling then just in front of this owner a part ceiling fell on him. Other store owners were telling him not to be there. Then  the area was  cordoned off so that shoppers were not allowed to  pass through and again the mopping up crew arrived.

This was because there was torrential rain and winds blistering and  unbeknown to us uplift big gum trees around the are including  Westfield car park. (We were luck that 20 metres away from where our car was parked was fallen tree missing us).

Driving around there was a mini flood outside K-Mart Mount Druitt, which always happens with high rain periods. Yet cars were still driving past. Westfield Management were still allowing cars to drive past. I think this should have been stopped as people and cars could have been stuck.

The exit of Westfield Mount Druitt to Carlisle Road always had a mini flood and we could see a car was stuck there. throughout the Westfield Car park there were many trees fallen and still potholes on the road. Once along heading east along Luxford Road, it felt like we were in George Street Sydney as traffic was 'bumper to bumper'! Hythe Street was blocked as a Gum Tree was lade across the entrance of the road along both side of the road there was  broken branches spread across yards, as we neared Woodstock Road, there was a tree that had nearly cut a house in half, same was in Methven Street, Meacher Street and also in Hythe Street at a newly developed town house.
Then there was Meacher Street which was blocked in the middle of the road and you could see that a small boat was affected  and there were 3 large gum streets in William Mason Reserve. SES volunteers and Police have been working tremendously hard to clear areas.

I personally would like to thank all that have assisted so far and praise there hasn't been a a fatality heard of at this stage.
