So What Happens Next After Improvement On Pedestrian Access Way Mount Druitt - More To Be Completed....

So the win for the pedestrian accesway, outside Rashray's on Luxford Road North Mount Druitt, doesn't just finish there. Click here for previous post

There are a few more traffic lights we need to let the stake holders know about, is vital to pedestrian safety and it is important to provide propper acessway to all pedestrians. No one should be denied propper infrastructure, to make life more difficult and complicated.

So the areas we are discussing are as follows:

Corner of Carlisle Avenue and Fuller Streets, Mount Druitt
You will notice on the below picture that the missing access way, is on the northern part of Carlisle Avenue. This area will be quickly developing into a medium to high rise area as north of this area in around the Durham Street, new buildings are under construction, while houses make way, for an increased population.

Here are the new buildings being constructed at Durham Street Mount Druitt (left picture). Just around the corner  heree are the traffic lights at the corner of Carlisle Avenue and Fuller Street, Mount Druitt.

Corner of Carlisle Avenue and Kurrajong Roads, Mount Druitt

This area is also becoming like the area around Mount Druitt village, where properties are being bought out by developers and medium density housing is making its mark.

Popondetta Road and Luxford Roads, Emerton/Whalan

Corner of Luxford Road and Aurora Drive, Tregear/Whalan

Here, you can clearly see that there there  pedestrian accessways required in the two above intersections of Luxford Road and Aurora Drive also Luxford Road and Popondetta Road. You can see how vital it is to make pedestrian life easier by walking across the correct way, on the correct side of the road.

Corner of Mount Street and North Parade, Mount Druitt

At the same time, there would need to be instant connected footpaths, from the Mount Druitt car park, to reach and extend to the traffic lights. You can see where the commuter car park finishes, on the eastern end of North Parade.

All these lights are important for eaxch pedestrian's safety and we seek the support of  Blacktown City Council with the NSW Government to fund and place these important safety issues for our community, on a priority list.

We also ask our community, to let us know if there are other traffic lights within and around Mount Druitt, that are not fully completed with all access ways on all crossing streets. It is important that we list all of them, so action can be taken. The  new access way in Luxfoird Road Mount Druitt, beside Rashay's took  over 4 years to advocate for. People got interested, stake holders cared and I have had great decussion with transport officers from Blacktown City Council.

Feedback Comments on New Pedestrian Acess on Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt - Various FaceBook Groups

As a lone voluteer advocate for our community, I have never seeked payment. My payment is seeing our community being happy and improvements coming from within it to our deserved people. Remeber we as individuals have to be happy first and then others will be happy.  Click here for previous post

Now all we need is one across Woodstock leading to the R A A F reserve , Belmore and Carlisle ave as well . A Park without basic road safety implementations is short sighted at best.

Mount Druitt Gets Correct Pedestrian Crossing At Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt - Lone Advocacy Works

It is with great emotion that I would like to advise our community, that NSW, Local governments and private companies can work hand in hand when there is a lone voice in the community that advocates for certain community improvements.

The lone lobbying and advocating for a pedestrian access way/ crossing on Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt (eastern side) was welcomed warmly by Council Officers and Blacktown City Councillors as well as State Members for Mount Druitt,
Hon. Edmond Atalla and retired State Member for Mount Druitt, Richard Amery.

My original lobbying started on 27th February 2014 ( just over 4 years and  three months) Click here for original post on 27/2/2014

One thing I also do is never give up. By not giving up results may happen and having the patience to do so, can lead to changes, once support is seeked by the relevant authorities.  Click here for last post published 6/6/2018

Thank you to our  community of people that I have spoken for
that requested the pedestrian access/crossing and thought it could never happen. In the past Mount Druitt may have been a place ignored for improvement, but that is changing due to local politicians and advocate raising issues that need to be resolved and working with the community in making these important relevant changes.

Now the community cannnot be charged for jay walking, now they have a propper pedestrian access/crossing. I personally would like to thank Mayor, Councillor Stephen Bali, all other past and present Councillors and Transport Council officers, as well as Hon. Edmond Atalla, State Member of Mount Druitt and retired State Member of Mount Druitt, Richard Amery and finally manager of Westfielfd, Mount Druitt who have worked with Blacktowm City Council to get a crossing approved, making it that much safer for the communitty.

Upgrades On Luxford Road, North Mount - Will We Get Our Pedestrian Crossing/Walkway At Westfield Mount Druitt Entrance?

A most of you know, I have been a strong advocate for road improvements on Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt for the last 2 years (and other roads as well). Luxford Road is a large circular road that can take you from Rooty Hill , through suburbs of Mount Druitt, Whalan, Tregear, Lethbridge Park, Shalvey, Bidwill and ending up up Plumpton/Oakhurst.

Here are possible pedestrian markings
If we become a silent community, nothing will be done! So creating noise, alarming stakeholders, making sure they get paid their money's worth is extremely important within our community. Some people advocate by contacting stake holders directly talking to them and/or writing to them. Blogging is my way of reaching out to the right people, that listen, learn, react and speak for, if they find it important to do so. They will then respond in their own time as some items of improvements may take time.

So it appears that we may get our pedestrian crossing at the eastern entrance of Westfield Mount Druitt! This has been the main focus for improvements has been and the greater feedback I have received from community members. That's why I took it on board!

Work has commenced as from 18th of this month, until completion.

Blacktown City Council Must Incorporate More Pederstrian Access To Reduce Road Safety Issues - as part of ITMP!

Whilst increasing roads and road maintenance might a major part of Blacktown City Council's traffic management area, review Blackspot areas in relation to pedestrian safety in current traffic light and heavy traffic intersections within the Local Government Area.

Thus, we now require for this vital policy to be implemented ensure dangerous intersections are well protecting pedestrians in  Blacktown City Council's Integrated Transport Management Plan 2013.

I have another few "Blackspot areas" in Mount Druitt that I will raise at a later date. If you have one let us know!

Nonsmoking Signs on All Bus Stops In And Around Mount Druitt!

Image result for no smoking bus stops
A Similar Sign can be provided!
We have small non-smoking signs at Mount Druitt Bus Interchange and people still smoke.

Under the NSW Smoke Free Laws  the public is not permitted to smoke 4 metres from a bus stop, taxi stand and pedestrian access.

We have people smoking outside Westfield Mount Druitt Shops and there is no fines. It is just a sign to Keep NSW health happy!

Click here for Westfield Mount Druitt Smokers Issues!

What Blacktown City Council needs to investigate is public non-smoking signs on all bus stops and the fines incurred if caught and also pedestrian phase ways and crossings in and around Mount Druitt and in all of Blacktown Local Government Areas. By doing this, it will comply to NSW Smoke-Free Laws.  A lot of people will have a healthier life and more smokers may become non-smokers: a fitter community!

We also need to have continual inspectors ensuring that smoking is not in relevant public areas. We will wait for Council's response!

North Mount Druitt Community Member Requirs Pedestrian Phase Way Improvements - Zoe Place Mount Druitt!

What annoys people in and within Mount Druitt, there appears to be no or little of review for fading pedestrian phase walk ways. As the time passes each tread of tire overpasses, the paint starts to disappear.

A young Patrick from North Mount Druitt, has taken time to pinpoint on the photo, which shows the markings of the pedestrian access and then it has totally disappeared. This position is  Zoe Place, in between McDonald's Restaurant entrance and Aldi's entrance. Patrick does want to point out that, this is a serious safety issue from the Mount Druitt community if vehicles ignore this safety zone.

I'm not too sure if this fits in Blacktown City Council's obligations or duties or other areas. I will nicely direct Council to investigate this and get back to us. I also would like to suggest that there is no signs on either side of the entrance road indicating warming of pedestrian access or phase walk ways.

Rooty Hill Residents Require Finalisation of Pedestrian Crossing To Train Station - Lack of Yellow Paint!

It is amazing to see that how when check for detail in our local community, there are missing items. Whether there is something that may not appear right or seems incompleted.

The other day, as I left Rooty Hill train station, I noticed there is something to the naked eye that is unusual and incomplete. Very simply, the concrete islands that have been placed from the Rooty Hill train station landing steps- south of North Parade - has a pedestrian access way - but the crossing is omitted.  There is a lack of 'Yellow Pedestrian Crossing Paint'. Maybe after years of previous decades of local Mayors of high expenditure, the local important issues have been forgotten or we can't afford the 'Yellow Paint!'

No warning signs for motorists to be cautious of pedestrians. It appears that 'health and safety'  of this pedestrian access way is not important to stake holders.  I bet this has been like this for years. If this is planning for future - this is the future and should be rectified, immediately.

Lets hope that it doesn't take time to get this issue fixed up.Community needs completed jobs! We expect  Blacktown City Council, to place this high on their agenda of the bureaucratic terminological of 'Work in Progress'!

Foot Path Crossing Required Corner of Earl Streets and Methven Streets, North Mount Druitt!

When we ask for essential Community improvements and they are worked on and completed, it makes myself wonder why elected Representative anything say within the last 10 years. A lot of it could be put down to 'individual ambition' and/or 'Don't worry about that area votes are safe'.

Are they really safe? I think people may think twice when one individual using actual photographs, uploading  pictures to publish blogs, which then sends automatic e-mails to stack-holders that can currently make changes for Mount Druitt. Easy, yes anyone can do this - but you have to be mindful   that decision makers and stake holders are 'Real People'.  Yet these are the 'Real People; that can make that 'Real Change'!

So, now as we are looking at more change positive for the community, we ask for improvements in basic local infrastructure that matches and  works toward the Blacktown Local Environmental Plan. The Plan that caters for the growing future.

Day Time
In the corner of Earl Streets and Methven Streets Mount Druitt, there is an urgent call for a 'Pedestrian Crossing/Path Way' (no traffic lights), allowing vehicles to slow down and make it a better  safety and safe community. What is also required is expanding the gap that it in the gap of the median strip, allowing both cyclists and community members to cross Methven street, Mount Druitt safely. I have noted some care drive over the 50 km speed limit and this is part reason.

Westfield Mount Druitt Sign Sends Mixed Message - Health And Saftey For The Community

Again, on behalf of the community, I am taking to task to seek an improvement in Mount Druitt Westfield, North entrance at Coles.

A lot of community members have seen it but do not want to raise the issue for fear of negativism from local authorities. Fear not,  I will do my best to get Mount Druitt on the 'Good Map' of improvement and make Council realise that we have our own independent issues

Her is  a sign asking for pedestrian to share the Westfield road which can cause potential accidents and death if fast cars are travelling into the road from the intersection before the sign. Look there is a very narrow path not even a pedestrian can walk on it.
I will seek Council's support to get this  improved as well as other improvements, seen by myself and  by other community members.

Yes there is ramp further ahead (on the left hand side),but there isn't a specific clearance  way to get to the ramp, except through a parking lot, where at general times can be hectic.

I will keep you up to date when  there is a resolution!
