Is it Cheaper Getting Your Car Washed At An Automatic Car Wash Company?

A female community member has experienced a situation that is unheard of when you take your car through an automatic drive through car wash company. The incident it happened at a local automatic wash company.

This community member had been regularly been using this business for quite a long time and has since decided not to use any of these companies again, after a bad experience.

As the car was moving down the automatic car wash, at the end there was a horizontal buffer rolling, that absorbs all the water from the top of the car and reaches its sponges. When this reached the end of the vehicle  heading towards the boot, it uplifted the spoiler and there was a broken piece that was loose on the ground.

The manager at the time took pictures, provided an incident report copy to her and advised this will be looked after by their Head Office, they handle these claims and she should be paid.

She had contacted Head Office and receptionist advised they have a  copy of the incident report, manager is away and she will be called  by the Manager. Approximately 3-4 weeks later, she rang the office and receptionist advised the rea manager will call her back within a few days.

The area manager rang up agreed to meet at the Carwash place as he had to inspect the car (although they have sighted pictures from the local Manager). Then, he advised this lady to obtain 2 quotes to fix it and they will obtain one quote and they will see if they can fix it, through their insurance

So, as she went to get a quote from a repairer, this person advised that an insurance claim should have been processed in the beginning and she did lodge a claim immediately. Through her insurance company the car was repaired immediately within a week, with a courtesy car was provided, as well. Later, a letter was sent by the Area Manager of business claiming that they have checked their automatic machines and they have found no fault. So they changed their mind from quotes to when an insurance company contacted them for a claim. Funny that!

Most people think car insurance only relates to accidents from other vehicles and that is why they will not lodge a claim but when it relates to other items creating damage to their vehicle by accidents, consumers are not aware that they may have a right to lodge a claim.

So my advise to cars with spoilers, be mindful of using Automatic Car washes. Spoilers may look good but they may be spoilt, when they go thought Automatic Car Wash machines.
