Thousands are expected to flock to Blacktown CBD for a

jam packed program of entertainment for the Streets Alive

and Parade Day.

Featuring an event or activity for all-ages, the celebration

on Saturday, 26 May will conclude the week-long Blacktown

City Festival.

“Streets Alive and Parade Day will bring colour, movement

and vibrancy to our City,” Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali

MP said.

“It’s an annual event which features a range of free

entertainment and activities and leaves no visitor

disappointed.”

The main stage will feature the much loved characters, the

Smurfs.

Papa Smurf and Smurfette will leave the kids enthralled as

they go on a journey to find the special spark which makes a

Smurf feel Smurferiffic.

The street parade starts at 11am on the Main Street (near

Warrick Lane), with over 60 floats and participants joining in

the fun.

“The vibrant parade will travel through the streets of our CBD

and is a spectacular display of colour and excitement with

roving characters, floats and marching bands,” said Mayor

Bali.

“There will also be performances from different cultures, a

huge number of arts and crafts stalls, and food trucks.”

Residents and visitors are encouraged to get into the CBD

early and wander through the streets, which feature over 200

stalls filled with food, toys, show-bags and handmade arts

and crafts.

There are five performance stages hosting incredible singing

and dancing acts from talented locals.

The Voice contestants, Lacey Madison who is a Blacktown

local, Aimee Hannan, and Seanny Miller will also be present

to meet festivalgoers at the Channel 9 marque on

Flushcombe Rd from 12.15pm - 2.30pm.

Activities throughout the day will include a freestyle

choreographed by Flair Riders crossing the boundaries

between BMX and freestyle Moto-X, and skate around the

ice -skating rink on the Village Green.
