Young and old are flocking to Alwyn Lindfield Reserve in
Glenwood to improve their fitness levels following the
installation of state of the art fitness equipment.
Blacktown City Council installed the fitness stations near the
existing playground and picnic areas within the Reserve.
“The new fitness equipment at Alwyn Lindfield Reserve is a
great addition for the community to come and use,”
Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali MP said.
“There is movable and static equipment, and the cardio
pieces include ‘Green Energy’ which allow the user to
generate human powered electricity to charge their mobile
phone or tablet while exercising.”
Councillor Julie Griffiths and Councillor Kevin Gillies jointly
voted to allocate $100,000 for the fitness equipment following
community requests late last year.
The project opened to the public last month.
“It’s a great installation which will encourage residents to get
out and about and exercise outdoors,” Mayor Bali said.
“For those who are too attached to their devices can even
have them nearby and charge them as they train on the
equipment.”
Community members of all ages head to Alwyn Lyndfield Reserve, Glenwood, to train on the new fitness equipment.
