More than $4,500 in prizes is up for grabs as Blacktown City Council looks for the city’s best decorated Christmas house.
The Blacktown City Decorate Your Home Christmas Lights Competition has kicked off for another year and the call out for entrants has been made.
Mayor of Blacktown City Councillor Stephen Bali is encouraging as many residents as possible to take part in the competition.
"The Blacktown Christmas Lights has become a tradition for the city and we are urging entrants to connect with their neighbours to demonstrate unique, contemporary and individual displays, especially in the Best Street Award," Mayor Bali said.
"Whether you are entering for the first time or you are a dedicated yearly supporter there are heaps of chances to share in the prize pool.”
There are 13 individual categories including an overall champion winner to be decided in this year's competition, with a total prize pool of $4,550 on offer.
Nominations close on 5 December.
"Now is the time to start planning your light display," Mayor Bali said.
"To see families and neighbours coming together to look at the lights in the lead-up to Christmas is a wonderful sight in what is often a busy time of year.
"There is something about Christmas lights that makes us stop and really think about the significance of the festive season, family and friends.”
To nominate your property or a neighbour’s property, go to www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au.
Judging and photographing will occur from Thursday 7 December to Tuesday 12 December from 8:30pm to 11:00pm.
