The rain did not dampen the spirits of those who came together for the inaugural Blacktown City Council organised Quakers Hill Festival on Saturday.

About 1500 festival goers enjoyed free rides, live stage entertainment by local talent, market stalls, face painting and a kids gardening workshop.

Vendors selling Indian, Turkish and Japanese cuisine provided a sumptuous lunch for guests.

Mayor of Blacktown City Councillor Stephen Bali said blacksmith demonstrations by Levi Pendlebury were a highlight of the event.
“Levi The Village Blacksmith had the crowd enthralled as he demonstrated the ancient art and trade of blacksmithing,” Mayor Bali said.

“I was proud to see the community spirit on show at his forge all across the festival grounds on the day.

“It was also wonderful to see people of all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate living in the great suburb of Quakers Hill.

“Thank you to Levi and all the entertainers and vendors who helped make the first ever Quakers Hill Festival such a huge success.

“I particularly want to thank Council’s event team for their work behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly.

“I look forward to enjoying many more years of successful Quakers Hill festivals to come.”
