The simple answer is I know of a circumstance where a Mount Druitt community member had checked her letterbox and found a row of letterboxes opened (Which was unusual). She then realised that her husband new credit card was stolen and discovered that the card had been used fraudulently, but her bank contacted her husband regarding unusual transactions being used in the early. These criminals were caught off-guard when they were using the credit card to pay for a local taxi fare and because the card was place on hold by the bank and they apparently didn't pay their taxi fare.
That wasn't the real issue. the issue came as she thought she would use her letterbox key to see if she could close and lock the other letterboxes. Well, to her surprise her letterbox key closed the row of letterboxes and she was able to open other ones and 'close' quickly, using her own secured letterbox key.
Another occupant of the property was able to open her letterbox as well. So the Property Management has been contacted and now organising proper different letterbox security keys on all the letterboxes on her block.
Although, a row of letterboxes were left unopened, it is hard to say who opened them but if other tenants have access to your letterbox it may make the detective work a little bit more easier to solve.
So the motto to the story is, if you live/own Units or Town Houses, check you letterbox key against others but I would suggest contact your Property Management Agent, so they can ensure this is done
Take action now and check your letterbox beys if your are Unit or Town House tenants, occupants and/or owners. Let us know how you go
