Local Council Candidates That Didn't Win Seats AT Blacktown City Council Elections Become Shadow Members.....

One thing I detest at Local, State and Federal Elections is a "One person (or more) opposition in only election show".

So what do I mean by this, we are seeing more and more community enthusiastic in  running as a candidate in Local Council  Elections. In fact  most of the community members that run once, don't  run again for many reasons: too long between elections, not well known, financial capacity to run again and maybe shared wrong political views.

Simply, I say this, 'It is a a free society where any community members with  good community skills, may like to make a difference in being elected into Council and the local Council brings out the best of us'.

It is not easy to run as a candidate and then if elected,  spend most of your  life in the  hands of the public, being there for the public in times of need and then voting and making critical decisions as part of 15 Councillors representing over  330,000 population. In my books, they really get paid 'peanuts' for their  income except
possibly Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Mostly representing the community is having self-pride and then sharing in community pride. If you do not have self-pride, don't even run. You have to respect yourself first and then there is that  respect for members of the community.

So this is the good time, as a non-elected candidate to  promote yourself as a shadow Councillor, get out within the community by going to community events, getting yourself known amongst the  community. Don't offside with the community.  Support what your heart wants not your 'head' wants. Then in 4 years time, when you run again you have a stronger stance and backing to maybe get in as a local Councillor.

If this doesn't happen, then there will be new community members interested to run as a candidate. This goes for all: independents, and major parties that have not got their 2nd or 3rd candidate elected, as well.
