Council's Response To 'Swamp Patch' On William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt!

An enquiry from Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson (Ward 5), Blacktown City Council for Ward 4 issue has generated a great response from General Manager. We are all being educated about our very own community.

I would like to suggest that signs be placed in that area - that advises the community that this particular area is not intended for playing - not just the flood warning signs, that are present!

Here is the response:

Councillor Donaldson,

Happy New Year.

The area in the photograph below is part of a large detention basin, the design of which has been driven to maximise flood storage capacity.  In consequence, there is a part of the basin floor, which is not intended to be used as a playing field, which does not drain well and can be boggy.

I have discussed this with the Acting Director and am advised that we will mow it in full when is dries out, but in times of wet weather we will leave it as long grass.  This does not impact on the amenity of adjacent residents.

Regards,
