First Response From NSW Member for Mount Druitt Attends to Hole In The Fence, Mount Druitt Bus Interchange!

It is with great pleasure to announce that the NSW Member for Mount Druitt, Councillor Edmond Atalla has responded to the first item of improvement, since his election this year. I thank him and his staff for doing so and hope there will be many more to come!

Public transport is  one of the issues that I know he is passionate about, maybe even more than myself (as I have been for the past 6 years). As a qualified engineer he would be in the forefront to ensure that improvements are made and maintained with public transport and its infrastructure.

Previously, I mentioned of a hole in the fence ( blog published 16/9/15) and raised awareness of this issue that if not rectified, it makes Mount Druitt Bus Interchange not up to standard. What I didn't realise it is our own community that is damaging this fence, Whereas I thought it was caused by buses having an extreme accident!

The issue we now face in relation to this incident is leaving stake holders more action then just reviewing 'on a regular basis'. What is immediately needed, which could be a less costly effect then spending thousands of dollars on repairs is organising 24 hour patrols either through NSW Police and or private security guards, to reduce the effect and hopefully catch the culprits. This in itself, would send a message to the wider community, that will protect our Mount Druitt Bus Interchnage from careless damage!

Furthermore there are 24 hour video cameras that could identify who the culprits are - this should be referred to the NSW Police immediately for an investigative response.

Here is the response from our State Member from Mount Druitt:

Cultural Day Mount Druitt Suggestion

Time and time again Ron from Whalan on our Face Book group, is bringing up suggestion after suggestion and improvement after improvement within Mount Druitt.

Here he is: I would like to see a multi cultural day in Mount Druitt, where each nationality that resides shares the stage with their traditional dance and costumes. Food stalls feature foods from their countries as well. This I feel would bring much mixed value to our great place.

A great idea, a great initiative, this is where Councillors of Ward 4 and 5 of Blacktown City Council can get right behind this event, promoting it as 'Get to know your community' event.

My suggestion is to hold it as part of the Mount Druitt Festival, Ron further suggested that the event could be for 1 week. And another community member claims it is a great idea by Ron.

As the two main Saturday celebrations we have is Reconciliation  and the Mount Druitt Festival, maybe a third separate weekend could be it!

Let leave it to our representatives from all sides of politics to get this on the road!

Dawson Mall Shops Are Continually Tagged With Graffiti - Stake Holders Need To Do Some About It!

With blogging, I sometimes have to report things that look bad, which is in a negative way  'Eye Catching'!

The issue is, if as a community we allow for this to happen it will continually happen. We need local, State and Federal local politicians to meet with NSW Police, Blacktown City Council Officers. shop owners and look at preventative measures allowing people to paint in public. It appears it must be done late night and early in the mornings. Just look at the graffiti itself:

Suggestion For Rooty Hill - Australia Day - Fire Works ' Blacktown City Council Video Promotion'

As the highly populated City Council within Australia, we have the best fire works display that I will never walk away from. Also, I'm sure thousands of others would support myself on this.

Whilst we mostly have very high attendances in the vicinity of 30,000-40,000 range, it would be a great opportunity for the Mayor, Councillors of Blacktown City Council, General Manager and Officers of Council to provide a promotional video explaining what has been done in the past year and the plans for the future involving all areas of Council, in summary. Each Councillor could provide a short promotion of the same: what has happened and plans for the future. Support responses could be from community leaders as well.

The video being shown on the large screen, means everyone will be able to see it, be captivated by it and find it interesting. It must not be politically one sided or promotion for any political parties. It actually can be used as an educational forum for the entire Blacktown Local Government Area and community. It could be showing local community events/festivals. It could be shown while bands are changing on stage.

I totally understand that if Council agrees to do this, that it may not happen until the 2016 Fire Works. The reason being is, it takes time to plan, approve allocations of funds for video, final production and approval for release at next Australia Day Fire Works event.  At least, they can all make a start to it, if they like the idea!

This could be played at the Australia Day Fire Works, at 'The Rooty Hill', Rooty Hill, at each yearly event and afterwards, uploaded on youtube.com.au

It can reflect on past yearly fire works and on other videos that Blacktown City Council have uploaded on youtube.com.au already. Here are a few examples:

This also would be great for the people of Mount Druitt to see and understand, as part of the Blacktown Local Government Area. We can all see 'Our Mount Druitt' and 'whyilovemountdruitt'!

Are All Our Politicians Well Remunerted? Know What Your Politician May Receive As Income!

Here is something to think about! A lot of us like to whinge and complain about others income being too high. That is all politicians being overpaid.

For one, I do not want, to run as a Councillor for Local Government elections. Two I do not want, to run as a State Member for State Elections. Lastly, I do not want, to run as a Federal Member of Federal Government.

Why, very simple: I do not want to and my enjoyment is doing what I am doing for the community: getting to talk to people, discuss with their friends and family, make it a subject to talk about, understand and learn what is happening or could happen to improve the community and for people to notify by e-mail improvements they require.

So to give you an example how our politicians fare with income here are some examples:
Mayor of Blacktown Estimated Income      $82,000 per annum

Councillors Estimated Income                       29,960 per annum
NSW Premier's Estimated Income               358,853 per annum
Private Member's Estimated Income            149,541 per annum
Prime Minister's Estimated Income             366,366 per annum
Federal Member Estimated income             140,910 per annum

The Mayor of Blacktown City Council makes decisions for all the current 325,185 population - that means with his estimated income of  $82,000, that is costing each person $3.97* per person
as there are 15 Councillors in Blacktown City Council -that means current population divided by 15 is 21,679 - that means on an estimated income of $29,960, that is costing per person $0.74 person.

The Premier of New South Wales makes decisions for all the current 7,500,000 population  - that means with his estimated income of $358,853, that is costing each person $20.90 per person
State Member for Mount Druitt makes decisions for all the current 44,095 electors - that means  with his estimated income of $149,541, is costing electors $0.30* per elector**.

The Prime Minister of Australia makes decisions for all the current 23,674,130 population - that means with his estimated income of $366,366, that is costing each person $64.62 per person.
Federal Member for Chifley makes decisions for all current 94,991 electors - that means with his estimated income of $140,910, that is costing each person $0.68* per elector.

So if you add up all the costs it costs us less than $100 per person or us to pay for politicians in Mount Druitt as rough estimates. I understand that allowances may not be included and that would be additional. Then those costs may rise over $100 per person per annum. Isn't this amazing! So people who say we can't afford politicians wages and there wages are too high, think first. We could look at doubling what we pay them and the end result could be more quality service and maybe less corruption for ones that go that way!

No. In my books all politicians are not well remunerated! What do you think?

A suggestion provided to myself yesterday for politicians and sales people:
"We have 2 ears and one mouth, so we should listen to people twice as much as we speak to them!"

Another quote from a "Plumpton Resident" (great people we have):

"It would be good for a good politician to have a term of office for more than 6 years and it would be bad to have a bad politician to have a term of office for more than 6 years!
