Christmas Light - 'Be Fire Safe" Mount Druitt Fire Station Face Book Page

It's that time of year when we make the effort to make our houses look great with Christmas lights.
While we are up on the roof, how about we clean the gutters as well?

Clean gutters will help protect your house from catching fire, even if your no-where near the bush. Burning embers can travel up to 30km from a fire.

In 2001, a number of houses in Glenmore Park were lost, many, many streets from the fire due to ember attack.

Clean gutters also prevent water coming into your house during severe storms. Blocked gutters prevent the water from draining & it fills up the gutters, eventually overflowing, which can damage eaves & enter wall cavities.

So when you plan on putting up your Christmas lights, plan to clean your gutters.

Be fire safe & storm safe.
