A North Mount Druitt Community Member With Another 'Safety For The Community' Improvement!

One lady has suggested that a very busy intersection in North Mount Druitt, that is congested with vehicle traffic, has caused quite a few near miss accidents with children and adult pedestrians.

The intersection is in the corner of Hythe Street and Luxford Road, Mount Druitt. This is east off the roundabout, corner of Zoe Place and Luxford Roads, Mount Druitt.

Obviously, this will be referred to Blacktown City Council, for  investigation and follow up, with requested support to NSW State Member of Mount Druitt, Hon. Mr Richard Amery.

We are still waiting for Blacktown City Council, to get back to us with pedestrian path ways on a traffic light since May 2014. A serious hotspot for accidents!

New Knee Bike Around Mount Druitt!

Spotted in Mount Druitt was a youth man that has been riding on public transport bus and trains on this knee bike. This is an incredible innovation I have seen. the young man stated this was provide by his specialist, to  him make more mobile to get around the last 4 weeks.

Due to the knee/leg injury he had sustained, this makes his life very active as he can travel to and from work and other community amenities. If you had sustained a similar injury, would you use the 'knee bike'?

Final Path Way (Middle Path Way) - William Mason Reserve North Mount Druitt

Finally, Blacktown City Council sub-contractors have completed the 2nd new path way at William Mason Reserve, Mount Druitt.

The current Mayor of Blacktown City Council, Len Robinson and all of its Councillors and Officers of Council should be warmly congratulated for  responding to blogs placed on this website, requesting for improvements in the area.

The people, community members of North Mount Druitt, as probably shocked that Council is doing the right thing and spending money in the area, enhancing facilities and providing better infrastructure.

There is more to do to complete this park and make it match parks like RAAF Memmorial Park also in Mount Druitt. We will get there! Then there might be a celebration for all to enjoy at the park. Maybe Council can then official open the fitness amenities, that is needed to bring this park up to standard!

Westfield Mount Druitt Safety Strips Missing On Path Way Crossing Foot Path!

It seems like the Work Health and Safety Representative for Westfield might need some glasses. We have pick up many issues that concern health and safety of  Westfield Mount Druitt shoppers. I'm not too sure how often they inspect the premises this issue has been like this for a long time!

We will hope that Blacktown City Council Officers will be 'on the toes' of the WHS Representative to ensure this is not neglected again!


So here is the important issue, The Safety Strips (anti-slip strips) placed on the  foot path,  at the end of the foot crossing on the northern path of Westfield need to be addressed, there is a missing piece.

I would even suggest a longer anti-slip strip to reach the entrance of the Westfield North door entrance!

Hot Spots For Property Now Hedersham, Before Mount Druitt And Whalan!

So this website was created from the idea that Mount Druitt and Whalan suburbs were property 'hot spots' were declared towards the end of last year. Tides can change,with purchase and demand in properties, within the area. There is always people moving on! Also people searching for cheaper cost effective properties in the lower end  of the Sydney Property market. 

Although, the lower end of the market has been rising, recently, it is changing the community with newer people enjoying the luxuries of the area: great range of shops at Plumpton and Westfield Mount Druitt, inclusive of suburbs with shops. Also Mount Druitt Library, Emerton Leisure Centre and Rooty Hill pool, public transport is getting better, some services need to be returned, a stronger police profile in the community is getting better as the number increases, plenty of parks and gardens getting upgraded to cater with the community engaging in these parks and gardens.

Now Hebersham is a property hot spot and is is situated near the middle of Mount Druitt area - central to many amenities. Check it out:

No Proper Path Way For Bus Commuters To Reach Rooty Hill RSL From North Parade!

The other day, I experienced a small difficulty reaching Rooty Hill RSL from North Parade, Rooty Hill.  After being dropped off at the bus stop south of North Parade, Rooty Hill.

As I was walking up to the RSL, there was no path way and walking on the  road way would be extremely dangerous. In front was wood chipping and plants. I think the Rooty Hill RSL, should make it accessible  by placing path ways in replacement of the plants. It will then join the path way on the other side of the car park entrance.

We will let Council discuss with the RSL  as path ways are safer than walking on the roads of the Rooty Hill RSL.

Pascoe Walk Mount Druitt Needs Urgent Upgrade - Cracks On Path Way!

Walkways and path ways are an important way of getting around from street to street and from town to town. For personal comfort, Local area governments plan and provide walk ways, for pedestrians, making walking easy and quite pleasant.

Now, if we come across walkways/foot paths that aren't up to scratch or standard, we have to notify the relevant authorities. 
 
Pascoe walk, Mount Druitt is where I have discovered that crack in the ground. Cracks in the grounds, left alone can get worse with dry weather. Also it is a health and safety isssue for the community if there is a potential slip or fall.

In this case, it is Blacktown City Council that will be notified to attend to it as soon as possible. If you notice any path ways in the same condition, notify, 'whyilovemountdruitt' and we will publish your pictures.

Mount Druitt Festival 2014 - Where You there?

Yesterday, I attended the Mount Druitt Festival 2014, to see what is there for the community. I always am fascinated, intrigued and excited to see what Blacktown City Council offers and arranges for this event.

Noting that Mount Druitt  may have a lesser population then the Blacktown District within Blacktown City Council, that there is as much glamor as the Blacktown City Festival (as this incorporates a higher population over over 300,000).

What I would like to see is to see more promotion of the Mount Druitt Festival by placing bright colored banners across buildings along Dawson Mall walk way and within Mount Druitt Town Square. Understanding that banners  are placed along North Parade Mount Druitt and at Luke Park, Mount Druitt corner, there are no local banners placed around all local local suburbs within and around Mount Druitt: Bidwill, Blackett, Dharruk, Emerton, Hassal Grove, Hebersham, Lethbridge Park, Minchinbury, Mount Druitt Village, North Mount Druitt Shalvey, Plumpton, Rooty Hill, Ropes Crossing, Tregear, Whalan & Willmot. 

This may present a further cost but this is not the idea, it is make the community aware of the event, other than using social media, and websites. It is an annual family event and people should be encouraged to come.

I would like to see exhibited in the Mount Druitt hub, local art and crafts that inspire to be proud of the Mount Druitt area,we live and prizes awarded for the 'community's choice awards' as well as from all Councillors representing Ward 4 and 5 and casting vote from the Mayor (if necessary). This would bring Councillors not talking party politics, about 'Mount Druitt talent and community pride'.

Furthermore, there could be  local talent quests at Mount Town Square and again let the community decide winners a d Councillors as a separate prize as well. I would like to see clowns, jugglers, clean joke comedians, jumping castles for the very young, more children's equipment to make it a fun day (similar to the Australia day event at Rooty Hill).
 
Possibly marching bands similar to Blacktown City Festival and even the Blacktown City Brass Band.

The historical society could have an exhibit as well, so we could learn of our own history.  Planning should be made to have a spectacular event.

Keep entertainment going, maybe have 2 stages. Maybe have a cycle fundraising even - riding all parts of Mount Druitt, individuals and families. Maybe, a 'Have your say of Mount Druitt in Blacktown competition'?  or 'Why I love Mount Druitt competition'?

These activities get people talking, opens up thoughts, discussions bringing neighbours and communities together!

Simply and basically just a fun day for all - something that everyone will never forget.

Hole In The Ground - Outside Of Pizza Hut Mount Druitt!

I am surprised to see more 'holes in the ground' at Mount Druitt. This time at the corner of Zoe Place and Mount Street, Mount Druitt, in front of Pizza Hut.

As we have mentioned before these 'hole in the grounds' can create a potential health and safety hazard, for community members. We understand that Council will act on this very quickly. Imagine if this was a major pedestrian thoroughfare!

Minchinbury Community Member 'Kerry' Stands Up For Community!

Yesterday, I met an independent community member that has been providing  wonderful improvements for the Minchinbury community. In our current day of age, it is hard to find people that take an individual stand for making improvements for their own community.They do it voluntary and because they have the passion to care for the community, which is damned important. Others will take a back step, yet take their hat off to them, once they know there is a win for the community.

Although, I was asked to sign a petition to 'Save Mount Druitt Pool', I reserved my right to do that, yesterday. I have personally walked past Mount Druitt Swimming Pool, to see it not fulfilled to capacity.It appears to be minimal swimmers there enjoying each day.

My understanding from an engineering report provided to Council last year, that under the former Labor held Administration, maintenance on old pipes had been been looked at and to replaced these pipes would cost a fortune.  I am not a person that thinks people should not have proper community amenities, it is just within a radius of 3 kilometers there is/was three pools to attend too of recently: Emerton, Mount Druitt and Sydney Gymnastic Aquatic Centre.

When you have a former Federal Member of Chifley's son, Ben Price selling a new development of units, right opposite the Mount Druitt Pool, I'm sure he would take up the opportunity of selling the land at the Mount Druitt Pool to provide more high rise medium housing!

Kerry respects my position and I respect hers! She has advocated for park improvements in  her Minchinbury suburb community over 10 years ago and demonstrates a  that special community spirit to bring the best improvements into the area.

We both agree that Mount Druitt needs to be brightened up, with bright painted/design colors in Dawson Mall. Kerry is interested in  a rapid transit bus service from Penrith to Parramatta. This would be stopping at Mount Druitt and Blacktown along the Great Western Highway, with  a commuter car park at every bus suburb stop, for community members to park their cars. At the bus commuter car park this will be promoting more people traveling by public transport. She  also believes in less modes of public transport to get you from one destination to get to your destination. Another suggestion is to have bus lanes along the Great Western Highway! She has got my support on this matter.

We need more people like Kerry to stand up for each community and be the voice for 'People Power'! I am further inspired with the  work she has done so far!
