What To Do If You Spot Dumped Shopping Trolleys - St Marys - Mount Druitt Star

I picked up an interesting story produced by Kylie Stevens from the St Marys - Mount Druitt Star, which I found intriguing. I have touched on in it before but Kylie has done a splendid job in notifying the Mount Druitt and wider community in fixing the problem.

The problem is an every day occurrence, shopping trolleys being taken away from major shopping centers because people may not have cars or want to use public transport to reach home, with their loads of shopping.

So in Ropes Crossing people are dumping trolley in the ponds. Here are some suggestions for the community to assist in cleaning up this mess:

We  will refer to Blacktown City Council and make sure these dumped trolleys all over the community are not 'dumped'!

Mount Druitt Bus Interchange Dumping Ground For Shopping Trolleys - Solution Required!

We need a solution other than trolley pickers picking up trolleys all day at Mount Druitt Bus Interchnage.

Everyday community members are bringing one by one trolley after trolley to reach the Mount Druitt Bus Interchange from Coles or Woolworths Mount Druitt. Sometimes there is on shopping bag only in the trolley and generally there are more! This is becoming a clogging and interference for other commuters waiting for the bus. The Trolley pickers hired can only come around limited times as they wide range/are to cater for.

I was thinking that there are at least 3 possible suggestions that I know, that would make improvements with these trolleys not being dumped:
Check out how people dump them
  • Charge $2.00 for each trolley on entry and on return receive $2.00 refund.
  • Have a trolley storage bay before the entry to Mount Druitt Bus Interchange.
  • More regular trolley pick ups increased by employing some one who collects the trolleys as people are placing them  near the bus stop interchange.
We will if any one in Blacktown City Council has any other ideas for trolley dumping improvements at Mount Druitt Bus Interchange

Shop Trolley Pickers Spend Hours Driving Around - :Picking Up Trolleys!

I met a trolley picker, drives around  from Great Western Highway to Plumpton , St Marys and as far west as Whalan, picking up shopping trolley that commuters cannot return.

Here we see him at night along Meacher street Mount Druitt, doing hi job. He has to drive from street to street - this just consumes unneeded petrol if community members just returned the trolley, maybe used  the shops home delivery service or use taxis or buses to get to their destination.

I know it is job creation but is this the kind of job we need wasting unnecessary fuel! If you do this will you look at other ways to ensure our community is not used as a dumping ground? I would never think of doing this unless I want to return it or as we advise in our previous blog  Coles and Woolworths should be considered to the community and use the same shopping trolley system as Aldi's
