Credit to Westfield Mount Druitt With Improved Hazard Safety Signs For Wet Conditions

Sometimes it takes small little steps to head in the right direction. Today, I can announce that after years of seeing buckets all around Westfield Mount Druitt catching leaking droplets of rainwater from Westfield Mount Druitt ceilings, common sense of a new direction prevails.

It may not mean much to the ordinary community member but to myself a strong community advocate ,like others, I can really see Westfield Mount Druitt management are striving to work the community with the wet conditions they have. Credit goes to them for implementing proper safety hazard signs.

The new warning signs surrounds buckets, seem to be easy to read, visible, eye catching and understanding.

Image result for wet hazard signsI would luke to add my feed back is if the yellow an black sloped stripes could be added to the bottom with  a 'Caution Wet Floor' warning logo (like left here).

Finally, thank you to Westfield Mount Druitt Mangement as they are ensuring public safety within their shopping complex.

This Ttime Of The Year, Drive Safely Even In Smaller Streets - Community Message!

Image result for careful driversIt is from my heart that I would  like to send a vital important message to all Mount Druitt Community drivers of cars, buses, taxis and heavy vehicles. It is such a simple message and it is mostly because I was walking past one this morning.

I would like to offer friendly advice to everyone, to drive safely without drugs or alcohol, follow the NSW Roads and Maritime Road Rules. Be watchful and careful on all roads, including small roads, where accidents may happen. Do no get distracted , follow the road signs and enjoy the festive season with your family with full enjoyment. You don't want lives lost and or cars towed away! Health and safety should be the forefront of every motorist's mind whilst driving!

The above photos was taken in the corner of Meacher & Pierce Streets, North Mount Druitt.

Family Goes Out For Walk Instead Of Playing PC Games All Day- Great Idea To Keep Fit!

On Sunday as I was walking back home and I had been walking past a young family that was walking. In fact, the young father said, 'We get away from the house as walking is good, gets us out of the house and we are wasting our time playing PC games all day'!

Many organisations use walking and running for competitions and fundraising but one of the biggest fundraising organisations in Australia that provides great support is the 'Heart Foundation', which even has official walking clubs that allow the open community to go on any lengths of walks at low to high pace.

Click here for the Heart Foundation

The family that went for a walk, was a great family as we tend to stay at our own homes, most of the times. I know the Mayor, Councillor Stephen Bali, supporting walking and community walking as we have both raised this topic before in relation to another manner. Community members walking creates a a healthier community, which is vital in everyone's lives.

I have since found 2 local Heart Foundation walking groups the area and if you are interested in  join them here they are:

Be Careful On Walking Up And Down Steps At Mount Druitt Train Platforms Because......

Warning signs have been placed on the top windows on each side of the steps leading from Mount Druitt Train Station concourse to each platform. Trips and falls may happen where  ever you walk but when it comes to warning signs been placed , this may indicate that these areas may be hazardous to commuters walking up and down these stairs.

This is where one sign is based:

And a few weeks ago, this is what could have caused this to happen, which was attend too and improved quickly:

If you notice nicely, the top lip of the top step was broken: tiles fallen off. This was attended too within a few days, so this is what causes myself to think  why these safety signs have been placed here.

So please do be careful and mindful of walking up and down stairs!!!!!!

Health & Safety Issues Westfield Mount Druitt - Loose Garden Hoses!

In this morning, I was walking towards Westfield Mount Druitt, when all of a sudden, I had seen this long water garden hose outstretched in front of myself.

It appeared that there was no safety warning signs, so any member of the community could have potentially fallen over the hose and there would have been a community 'health and safety risk' of   body injury and may be permanent disability.

Maybe a preventative measure, (besides placing essential safety signs around the area) is to place the hose not outstretched on the road have it lying along the garden beds, on the side of the car park.

We will let Blacktown City Council and Westfield Mount Druitt look at avenues of providing safety for the community for the future, so this doesn't happen:

Community Health & Safety Issue On Westfield Mount Druitt Pedestrian Access!

From a distance
Again and again, we are showing how Westfield Mount Druitt obviously do not have regular Work Place and Safety inspections for the community. Audits are probably signed blind, to say it has been done.

Westfield as a multi-million Australian business seems to care about profits first and expenses to prevent potential accidents last.  We may have to inform NSW Work Cover and fines could be implemented! It appears Westfield have the funds to pay for these fines

I personally think that copies of any WHS Audits must be provide to Council, so that Council can ensure there is no breach of any regulated laws.

If someone falls on what appears to be 3 large nails and there is a potential accident or fatality, how would Westfield Mount Druitt feel?

We now ask Councillors and Council Officers of Blacktown City Council, to act on this important  issue to provide further improvements for the community.

Dumped Equipment At Night In Dawson Mall - Health & Safety Issue Mount Druitt Community!

As I walked down Dawson Mall, Mount Druitt, I noticed there was a hype of activity: bobcats driving  that up and down, heavy duty trucks just park blocking the walk way and then low and behold a huge equipment, just thrown on the Mall.

Although Blacktown City Council owns the Mall, the workmen were working oblivious to actual community walkers using the path way and they were working on a empty shop, appearing to renovate it. What my concern is and was, there was no 'Health and Safety' signs placed anywhere and if one of the trucks rolled (Break not working), the this poses a community 'Health & Safety' great problem and a high potential risk of accident, possible death.

It shows poor Management from Westfield Mount Druitt, to allow contractors to place the Mount Druitt community at risk, like this:

Apologies for a blurry picture!

Westfield Mount Druitt Ceiling Archways Needs Cleaning!

Yes,  did you know that in Westfield Mount Druitt that dust could be dropping from t yourself from their ceiling. I have seen gaps in some cornices about a fist high (God knows much dust is there!). Then there is the ceiling archways is where there is continual dust gathering and seems the Healthy and Safety of  these are hardly checked.

We live in a world that we have so many diseases and germs that can be spread and mak e people really sick. Things like hay fever, athsma and from the NSW Disease Dust Board:

Dust Diseases

  • Aluminosis
  • Asbestosis
  • Asbestos induced carcinoma
  • Asbestos related pleural disease (ARPD)
  • Bagassosis
  • Berylliosis
  • Byssinosis
  • Farmers' Lung
  • Hard Metal Pneumoconiosis
  • Mesothelioma
  • Silicosis
  • Silico-tuberculosis

So we need Blacktown City Council to ensure public health and safety at Westfields Mount Druitt to ensure the dust  is cleaned regularly at intervals of once a month. There must be a Local Government Clause to ensure Shopping Centers ensure Duty of Care to all customers.

Luxford Road, Mount Druitt Traffic Light Upgrade - I Got It Wrong! Not a Pedestrian Crossing required A Pedestrian Walk Phase!

The famous saying that we are all humans and  no one is perfect, that I agree. Especially with me! I am sort of learning this voluntarily work for the community, by myself and hopefully getting results. It is  not hard as it it is all using e-mails and blogging to  get the message across. Something that once you are taught, you can reach the outside world through the world wide web.

This work is not to be done with hatred  but for love and respect for the community. It is not much labor intensive  but it is rewarding when  improvements are bring made and  things are being done. The wider community may not realise what is being done in the back scenes, until one day they find this website and discover what is happening.

So what does this all mean, is that  I got it wrong that we needed a pedestrian crossing on the east part of the current traffic lights, on Eastern side of Luxford Road North of Mount Druitt (entrance to Westfield Mount Druitt). It is called a 'Pedestrian Walk Phase'. So I am human!

I received  from the Senior Traffic Management Officer, from Blacktown City Council Click Here For Senior Traffic Management Officers Letter of Response.  I contacted him straight away and apologised for my wrong request. I remember when I was just a children we used to call them pedestrian crossings, terminologies  have changed with the modern world. He was  so polite, that he agreed that a 'Pedestrian Walk Phase' is require.

The only hiccup maybe is that the NSW Roads and Maritime Services may say it will delay traffic. My question is if it delays traffic and promotes accidents that have a delayed life how would they feel with their decision. There are a lot of community members that are day to day risking their lives crossing this road. Since there has been accidents there before, preventive measures must be used to prevent potential loss of life and/or extreme health issues.

Especially, if it was me that was involved in an accident, that would be shocking!

Blacktown City Council Reacts Positively With Signs For Dumping!

Well, as we are producing community issues to be addressed by Blacktown City Council, we are  getting positive responses on a majority of them. Here is one - although it is about rubbish it is how the  some community members treat rubbish, "inappropriately". Refer to the  previous blog published:

And then refer to the response from the Senior Sustainable Resources Officer, Blacktown City Council:

Thank you John,

I recently installed approximately 3 illegal dumping signs in the Hythe, Meacher and Methven Street area encouraging residents to utilise Council’s free Household Clean Up Service. If you believe additional signs are needed let me know and I will investigate the provision of more signage.

If you need anymore information regarding the information provided above please do not hesitate to contact me

Westfield Mount Druitt Further Leaks Inside And Outside!

They say when it rains, it pours. It seems like it is pouring at Westfield Mount Druitt. We showed you Leaks Dropping From Westfield Mount Druitt Building

Now we will show  you a bigger leak spreading to the Westfield Mount Druitt part of Dawson Mall and internal leaking problems.

Although it has been for at least 2 days the outside one, it appears the same size this afternoon. The other leak from inside Westfield Mount Druitt, seems to have temporary controlling measures to warn shoppers of trips and spills, which could lead to major spinal injury, broken bones, and possible disability if an incident occurs under the Australian Work Health and Safety Regulation and Acts 2010. It is situated near the center stage and is in a spot where there is many shoppers walking past. We ask that proper WHS inspections are conducted, to prevent and potential future incidents. Work Place Inspectors are called in to inspect this sight at Westfield Mount Druitt and monitor their reviewing process.

In fact, the area could have been cordoned off, preventing shoppers to go near the buckets and signs!

Here a blog that has been published before a t Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group Inc, IT is not really a public transport issue - it is now a community issue and we will seek support from  all local authorities to add an extra pedestrian crossing on Luxford Road, Mount Druitt (Entrance to Westfield Mount Druitt).
