Steam Returns At NSW Rail Museum...


Steam returns tomorrow!
 
Steam season has officially arrived and the NSW Rail Museum is kicking off the 30th annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam tomorrow with steam train rides, driver's cab visits, vintage steam machinery and more!

STEAM TRAIN RIDES

Take a 45-minute ride back in time along the Thirlmere Heritage Railway, hauled by a historic steam locomotive.

See full size and miniature steam traction engines, portable engines, oil engines and pumps. Display courtesy of the Campbelltown Steam & Machinery Museum.

Take a ride on the NSW Rail Museum's miniature railway!

3830 & END OF BREAK OF GAUGE

In 1962, the Victorian government finished laying standard-gauge rail line from the NSW border to Melbourne. View a short film about the opening of that line and the first passenger train to run from Melbourne to Sydney. On display with commemorative standard-gauge Spirit of Progress headboard from 3830.

Enjoy a fun performance for kids and families based on the classic story, "I think I can, I think I can..." Presented by Eaton Gorge Theatre Company.
