Mount Druitt Community Member Hears About Another New Shopping Centre In Mount Druitt - Is It True?

When is a rumour a rumour or even when is it confirmed? That is the question, in relation to William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt future?

It is not on everyone's lips, but according to one local community member, this is the second tine he is telling myself what he has heard and that makes it seems it is heading to be more true than before. At this stage, for me it is hard to believe as well.

So what it is, is that apparently Blacktown City Council have plans to build a huge multi story shopping centre in replacement of where William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt is. It will be a large complex with many, many shops and will be apparently interconnecting with Westfield Mount Druitt. The surprising part for me, is the new supposed proposed shopping development will be interconnecting with Westfield.

This community member tells us it is in the planning stage for the future and he also stated that once completed there will be a sudden downwards trend in prices of houses, in this area.

So this is where we need Councillors, Council officers,  possibly Westfield Mount Druitt Management and or NSW State Member for Mount Druitt or even the Federal Member for Chifley, to tell is this plan in motion?

I completely understand that we are a growing area in and around Mount and for a few reasons I cannot see this going through in the immediate future:

  1. There would need to be in depth community consultation, in relation
  2. A lot of properties would have to purchased on both sides of Earl street and even on each side of Shennan Walkway
  3. Earl Street itself as well as Small parts of Hythe Street and Methven Street would have to be purchased from Blacktown City Council.
  4. The cost for onterconnecting and builing a new place, would outweigh thed cost of building up on levels at rhe current Westfield Mount.
  5. The amount of time going through red tapes in between  Blacktown City Council  & NSW Government Departments.
  6. The main destruction of 2 vital and important parks within this area: William Mason Reserve and also Shennan Walkway Park.
  7. This business venture would seem to cost in the multi million dollars and I don't think Westfield  would have the capacity to fund it.
  8. There are completion shops at Plumpton Shops and each local community shops as well as next door at St Marys. This may be too much  business competition at this time.
Maybe we will here for someone soon, either shut the rumour down or  place the place on the table of 'Truth'
