What Great Sportsmanship We Have?

In Australia, we have a great range of sports and teams to support or take part in, depending how passionate each individual community members are.

The major sports we have is Soccer, AFL ( Australian Football League), ARL (Australian Rugby League),  ARU (Australian Rugby Union), Austag, cricket, tennis, athletics: both field and track, gymastics, swimming, wrestling, boxing, motor sports, shooting, archery, futsal, badminton, squash, baseball, surfing, yachting,  equestrian sports,  racing, rowing, hockey, basketball, netball, lawn bowls, tenpin bowling, water skiing, ice skating and  snow skiing just to name a few.

There is no political law that requires us to support a particular sport or even a particular team, for that fact. So if you don't want to you don't have too. Yet, one of Australia's natural and possible culture is to have a liking for a sport or team (at least), whether you  are a TV couch spectator or a true-hearted fan, member and visit your favourite team, player and game, these can be  partaking in goodsportsmanship.

Once children go through primary and secondary education, they are introduced to many of these sports and may wish to join teams, become a player and  hopefully make a career out of it as well as being fit for life.

There are so many life's choices of which sport to join and why, it is best left with the individual for the final choice. Yet,
encouragement brings on good sportsmanship and not giving up is the 'Australian Way'!

The most important thing is whether win lose or draw, it is just a game, sometimes the real champion is the loser who doesn't cry,  feel ashamed or even gets upset. Treat other players like they are winners, even if  they didn't win!

Get interested in your local sports and be proud to be Australian!
